Well done Button! He well deserved it for this year!
Come lewis, thats your tittle go get it next year!
What did I miss in the last couple of seconds? I see Mark cross the line, so how did lewis get third?, But i was dying of a pee so i guessed no would do any more over taking.

Button is a LUCKY world champion. He only won it because when he drove shit, all his rivals drove shit.Has done nothing decent since July.Look at today.Vittell had a poor qualifiying, the crash premoted him form 14th to 7th,then barricello got a puncture.

Jenson Had already done enough before Rubens punctured. He drove the best this season, got more points, more wins and did the fast laps and overtakes when it mattered.
If the others couldnt, its their tough shit, they all start the season from 0

Really happy for the guy. He's been trying for years and this is all he's wanted so congrats to him. Brilliant F1 champion with a great character and personality!
Also great to have both a British world champion and British team first in the constructors championship. Great day for British motorsport really.

what a load of toilet!!! were you watching a different race??? as with every race yes there is an aspect of luck/others crashing out/safety car etc but button drove a fantastic race. ( as did his fellow brit ).
And as for remarks regarding hamilton and only being able to win with a good car????? his car has been average at best this year but he's still won races and been on the podium. just look at what his team mate has achieved with the same car! thats why heiki wont be at mclaren next season. hamilton is a quality driver in my opinion has big things in store for him over the next 5/10 years. ( british version of schumacher springs to mind!! ) but for the time being....... WELL DONE JENSON!!!!!!!

Pleased for him, but can't help think about all the haters 3/4 of the way through the season saying he's a shit driver etc etc, me included. Can't see him doing back to back championships some how, but was a good drive yesterday, nice to see him really pushing and putting a few moves on people.
Still don't understand why people try to knock Lewis so much though, roll on 2010 I say, great season it's been this year.

Top race! ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Plenty of overtaking for once. Lots of "holding breath/closing eyes" as Jenson went past some of the newbs. Kobayashi looked good though. The next Sato? ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
WELL DONE JENSON!!! But I'm hoping for Hamilton to have it back next year.

Jenson had loads of luck to get him there, like being in the team who got away with cheating on the intentions of the rules with the diffuser thing and the FIA changing the rules to make it legal etc, BUT thats part of racing, to win you need luck, determination, talent, and a decent team behind you.
Without any one of those factors, you wont be world chamption.
Im of the opinion that in an equal car lewis would beat him, but until they end up driving the same team (cant see it ever happening) we'll never know.
Great to see a british champion again, I hope the two of them both do well next season and one of them wins again, I couldnt really care less which one though, I just like seeing the british do well in motorsport.

It was a great race yesterday and full credit to Jenson who finally rose to the challenge and really started driving that brawn car like we all know he can ![Clap](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/9c-clap.gif)
A very worthy Champion imo just as lewis was last year.
British team in there first season and british driver - doesn't get any better![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
bring on next year and lets hope both button and hamilton have the cars and that jenson continues to push a bit more like he did yesterday.

Utter shit
Ross Brawn announced last october his intentions ( aero philosophy for the new car ) to the overtaking working group and asked for the group to suggest to the FIA that the rules to be changed as he'd found the diffuser loophole. They ignored him ( probably as honda were so shit nobody saw a threat ). He then went to the FIA and had the design approved ( In NOV ), all this is documented and beyond dispute.
It only appeared to be a problem with other teams when the better designed car whooped everyones ass unexpectedly in pre season testing and first qualy in Australia.
No rules were changed for Brawn AND he warned them first and got ignored. FPMSL
The car passed all scrutineering and conformed to all regulations from the beginning of the 09 Season
If you can show me a rule change to make the Brawn 'legal' i'd love to have the details please.
Perhaps anybody that has won the title in the best car should have it devalued by internet experts? After all, if you have a look back over the last 40 years not many of the World Champs have been won in cars that were anything less than the best on the grid!
Its been one of the most competitive F1 seasons for years with no one team having the upper hand all season. Alsonso won his 06 title in similar circumstances to Jenson, but noone called him luck for hanging on and consolidating.
Agreed he had luck, as you need to win the title, but cheating. Nope. You are misinformed if you think the car was illegal and the rules were changed

My opinion is that the interpretation of the rules they had was in contravention to the intent of the rules.
The FIA deemed it legal though.
As I said, luck (in this case the FIA deciding it was in their commerical interests to agree with the interpretation) is part of winning, Im not attempting to "take anything away" from his victory, but whatever way you look at it, he had a massive advantage in the first few races before all the other teams got a chance to also add extra aero aids that they didnt use initially as they believed they would be illegal as they were so clearly against the intention of the rules.
I am not saying that he cheated, merely that he cheated the rules intentions, the reason he could do that was the FIA's fault, not Brawn, as the FIA wrote the rule in a way which could be twisted.
The change the FIA made, was to make a decision on the controversial diffuser, before that ruling the teams had to interpret the rule, after the ruling they no longer had to, as a result they then started all changing their cars, but it took a while for them to catch up, this played a big part in Jenson winning so many points in the first few races.
The change was from "probably illegal" to "legal" IMHO, and like Ive just said, was the fault of the FIA not of Brawn.

Its the other teams fault, as they were warned at the overtaking group meetings by Ross Brawn, who suggested the rules be changed to close the loophole, the FIA merely confirmed what was asked of them. No rule was changed during the season
As for him enjoying a clear advantage..did rubens finish second in all of these races where the Brawn was so vastly superior? Does anyone else who won a championship in a superior car ( all of them bar one or two ) have it 'devalued'?
He didnt have a superior car all season unlike most seasons so IMO it represents an even tougher victory for him.
