antivirus softwear would be a good start, try avg etc or get macfee

Those are the last ones id get!

I would get Avast, its free, it works and it doesnt slow the pc down.

Also do a free scan on trendmicro website, it works as ive used it before http://free.antivirus.com/

i killed a near new laptop on avast as it couldnt find half the virus's out there, so wont go near it, avg not great but finds most, im on mcfee and have been for 2 years, never had a prob or any noticable slowing

Ive been using Avast for over a year and my pc is on the internet every single day pretty much, never had a problem with my pc it and it runs fast as hell

try comodo - its free and includes a firewall and anti virus.

Id copy all your stuff and reinstall, get rid of whatever other nasty stuff is lurking there, but thats just me i find that less hassle than farting about trying to find bits of dodgy programs. some trojen never completely go even with a good antivirus. just get good security once its done.

Throw the nasty PC in the bin and get a Mac. That'll fix it!

yeah that'll fix it, seeing as he wont be able to afford an internet connection after buying the mac, so it wont be able to pick up any virus
