Default How easy is it to change a Cossie fuel rail

I'd like to change the fuel rail on my Saph as the one fitted is going rusty but I'm not sure how easy it is to refit the fuel hose onto the end of it. It looks a simple push fit but is it really that simple considering the fuel pressure involved. The last thing i want is a fire as the result of buftying LOL

Cheers Gaz

Does it have a bleed valve on it? It'll look like a tyre valve. Press that to release the pressure. Or remove the fuel pump fuse, start it and let it stall.

I dont think I've explained what I mean very well. Its a 4x4 Cossie and the fuel pipe simply pushes on. I'm not worried about taking it apart, its the puting it back toggether that bothers me. Can i just push the fuel line back on or is it more involved than that. I dont want a leak.

It should have a jubilee clip around the hose at least 2WD does one each end reg and rail, I know 4x4 design is different but must be more than a push fit surely, I'm surprised yours isn't leaking now.

One of the 4x4 members will soon answer no doubt.

The injectors have O rings that sometimes leak so would be as well to have some spares.

Dead simple to get this off as i was struggling until AG stepped in with the solution - get a jubelee clip and cut the end off (the bit you turn with screwdriver) so you are left with just the rounded bit - push that into the back of the of what is pictured above and this will open the spring in the rear allowing you to pull the fitting apart.

No mate. On the 4x4 rails I have seen the plastic hose is just a push fit onto the metal pipe that curls back on itself on the end of the rail. I would imagine its the return hose I'm talking about as the input hose must go to the regulator ?If it is indeed heatshrunk on I'm not sure i fancy trying that LOL

The silver fitting shown in the pics is further down the fuel hose. I want to change just the rail if possible

The pipe that curls back on itself is the INPUT, the regulator is at the END of the rail, so as to cause the pressure to exist in the rail, by restricting it's flowing out, backing the pressure up sort of thing.
The pipe is indeed a shrunk fit, if removed these can be simply replaced with flexible pipe, the pressure is not extreme, when I test rail pressure I don't even need to put a jubilee clip on the pipe from the end of the rail(2wd), the hose is a tight fit and no leaks.
Had a few leaks today mind on a 500bhp 3 door, getting ready for mapping session, brand new engine started 1 st turn once fuel was through, running mega rich though, running GT series with side exit pipes screamer pipe etc!!
