My mate has won this car and is going to return it to cossie powered and 2wd, he has had his mate do some reserch on the car and he has told him it was built by Eggenberger and that it has raced at Bathurst.
Do you think this could be true and how can you find out?
What do you think Martin?

Lets see the pics of its underside then ! I have to say its my reckoning that all Eggenberger prepped cars were lhd , so i think its a bit unlikely mate ! Its the equivalent of finding A Picasso in the loft , doesn't happen ! so many cars were prepped for Production saloon car classes from the late 80's on , ther a re literally hundreds of caged 3 dr's out there that have been got at in one way or another .
Best of luck , on face value looks a good shell !

I Know what you are saying mate, i aint seen it yet but i said it would try and find out some history for him, if there is any.
I said to him surly it should be LHD he said on the left hand side of the car there are holes which look like where the pedel box could have been bolted, not sure about the underside but he did say it was all rose jointed.
I really carnt see it being a proper one but if it is he is one lucky foooker as he paid peanuts for it!!

With no ID its prob a stolen cossie from back in the day like a lot of low budget circuit racer shells are.
Things dont usualy have no ID for nothing...
Shells like this are far from rare, the chances of it having any decent race history even if you could find it out are mega slim.
Just get the car, bin the engine (il bet its not really 3.1 either), and have some fun

might be a cap in yo ass Steve I spoke to the guy in town tonight too and by the sounds of it, it was left hand drive plus it has the eggenberger plate on the top of the dash iirc, cant see anyone going that far to d oa replica personally.
out of interest, would it be worth much if it really was genuine?? considering that I guess the only original parts are the shell, windows and cage etc?????????

I too thought it was probably a road car, nicked and turned into a racer back in the day. There are a lot of these about.
However......
I don't know much about cossies but i thought only the motorspoert shells came with out sunroofs? Apparently this one has no sunroof. Surely a good sign?
