think that will be more hassle than its worth, better off wit a zetec..... probably need custom mounts, electronic fuel pump, whole wiring loom and a shit load more.

Yeah as said, it'd be worth looking into a bigger engine if you're going to go to all that trouble, although a 1.25 is a nippy engine in a Fiesta (not fast by any means) it probably wouldn't be that much of an upgrade from a 1.1 in an Escort.

They are good engines though, so not trying to discourage you if that makes more sense financially.

think you would be better off useing a 1.6 zetec silver top mate you can use an escort rs turbo top mount with slight modification and the standard 1.6 flywheel/clutch will (if you wanted)fit directley into you gearbox im gessing your box is a 4 speed? if you wanted to go 5 speed you could use the box out of a escort rst with the lsd diff or you could use mk2xr2 box that can be picked up for about Ł50

as for the 1.25 zetec that seems more hasel that what its worth they suffer from bottom ends as well as i have changed a few

yeah my box is 4 speed! not into the moddingthough like lsd etc, just a simple factory engine thats economical.

but will the 1.25 be up to the weight of the escort? and will I have to use a customize mounts?

stick with the 1.1, for the amount of difference you will see the work is just not worth it, best off with the 1.1 for a while then get a slightly bigger engine,

even a 1.4 or 1.6 cvh so it bolts straight in !

Just don't declare it

I won't be putting any major details down, but a friend of a friend......bought a 1.1 litre mk3 fiesta, sent the log book off saying it had been re sprayed black. It cam back, he bought a MK3 XR2i stuck the plates off his 1.1 on it, changed the vins over and bam!! XR2i for 1.1 premium.

Now before anyone goes mad........My mrs works in insurance. If the claim on a policy is in regards to said policy holder then the insurance company try to find a way to not pay you to repair the car, or pay out for a total loss. Anything sub Ł1000 quid and your loss adjuster will pay out, over that heads up in "investigate" and someone will come out to see if all is as stated on the policy, ie, finding a way not to pay out.

My moto has always been, never claim ever ever ever!! keep your cars cheap, spend loads on things you can take off if you total it and put into a new shell.

Second of all

Yes, the said lad has been pulled about a million times in his "iligal" car. Only because he drives like he stole it. Vins match, plates match, insurance matches, away he goes. Do you honestly think mr police man even knows what he's looking at? And even if he did, you could say your V5 is being rectified as we speak officer, good lad he'd say, now on your way.

Everyone needs to toughen up a bit when it comes to insurance, it's ever so easy to bend the rules, just like they do with you, the policy holder.

I know, but been told that it uses less fuel with leaded petrol?!

fitting something bigger think is not an easy option, I pay 100euros for the license a year, and is eyeing for the 1.25 cause its under the 1.3

so with the 1.25 i will not see more mpg?

id have thought getting rid of the whole car and buying something else a bit bigger would be easier and probably better for insurance reasons as it wont be modified. a small diesel will pull well and give good mpg.

the 1.4 tdci engine would be a bastard to get in and run as its actually a peugeot/citroen psa engine..... if you want to go the diesel rote, then the old 1.6/1.8 lynx diesel engine fit in piss easy and the hardest part is draining the fuel tank lol. very economical and very easy diy fit and ultra reliable

If you want to go blacktop zetec you may as well go to a 1600, fitting one is going to be exactly the same as fitting a 1.25!

Plus the 1600 has a good bit more power and torque
