used to have word 200bla bla.....but i've lost the copy (rebooted the pc)....so what program can i get for free that does the type document kind of thing....cheers Pete

you could go straight to a download site like source forge and get open office without popping your email address in on their site

its the replacement office suite used in nearly all Linux distributions.

no need to install anything. get a google account and use their excellent online google docs which has versions of word, excel etc

If you only want to draft a basic letter Pete, you could use Wordpad that comes with Windows, you'll find it in the Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories
