it really is luck of the draw mate
if it's packaged up and looks like it needs to have duty paid onit, they'll charged you
if it's bacgged up like a rag tag bit of kit then they probably won't

you could always try and ask them to put on it "returned warranty parts" to see if this get's you off the hook, but then they may say "no use soemone else for your cheap criminal activities"

if you don't ask, you won't get

haha i like your style, im dealing with CFM in California, they seem ok so maybe they will. Problem is without and kind of tax the parts are cheaper than i can get them here, with tax they become more expensive. And the other thing is if i but them here i will get a standard clutch and half weight 13kg fly, if i get them from CFM then i will be getting a Aluminium 8.5kg fly and massivly uprated clutch? HHHMMMmmm maybe the CFM fly will cause clutch chatter and do my swede in decisions decisions

It's random if it gets picked up for customs.

If it does it's usually 15% vat + an admin charge so it'll be roughly £100 extra if it gets stopped. The % and admin charges depends what category the item falls into - if you can work it out on the HMRC website you're a better man than I am.

95% of all my bits from USA/China get through. I had to pay £19 on a £100 torch last week but I don't really mind as I still save overall when you consider 95% gets through without customs.

BTW - ALL my packages this year (about 100) have all had the correct value marked on them with the proper excise forms stuck on the outside.

Most major companies wont do the old 'warranty returns' or 'gift' anymore as US customs have clamped down massively. Your better off getting the items delivered out there to someone you know then getting them to courier / post it privately. Ive had a few bits sent over for my Lightning and not had to pay anything yet!!

SO your saying that i would be VERY unlucky to get picked up on this? My old man purchased a Harley Davidson leather jacket from the states and got stung, then he ordered some boots and got stung also!! Maybe he was unlucky.
Sod it if i dont hear back from TTV by the end of the week then i will order from CFM in the states.
*edit* unfortunately i do not know anyone in the states other wise that would definately be the way to go

it all depends on luck mate so probably better off expecting to pay the duty and vat (10% then 15% vat on top of the total) and if you dont you've got a few quid in your pocket!!

If the carrier (airline etc) are doing their job properly you will have to pay duty. I think for clutches it would be 3.5% from the states:

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs...escription=yes

Then VAT @ 15% for the rest of this year. You pay VAT on the delivered price and the Duty BTW. So for your above prices you would pay the following:

$875 + $150 @ 1.6499 (this months customs roe) = £621.24
Duty @ 3.5% = £21.74
Vat @ 15% = £96.44

Thats providing the delivered price is through to door. You will also be charged a fee for the customs clearance via the courier of between £20-35 imho, which you should also pay import VAT on.

Not sure if state tax applies in the states either but you will have to pay this on top of the suggested price ( i think ). I know Florida is 8%.

You could get them to mark the item with a lower value so you pay less tax and vat. Be careful with this though, as it could cause issues if it goes missing for any reason. Ive done it with helmets before, £300 helmets marked as $50 and they were delivered to my door with nothing to pay.

The State taxes are for residents only, it doesn't apply to exports.
Same as buying VAT free here for export.

Because at that point you are a resident, even if only temporarily.
