Default Mondeo ST220 - Want an exaust, air filter and chip. Are these still the best ones?

Hi, i am new here so hello

I have been looking to get an ST220 and want to know some parts to tune the car before i buy so i can get them fitted as soon as i get one

Are these the best parts for an ST220 "I searched loads but were old posts so checking these still best"
1. Pipercross VIS Induction kit
2. Dreamscience chip
3. Miltek Exaust

Are these my best options as i am searching for higher BHP, will i need to get the car retuned once i have these fitted on the rollers.
Been a while since i modified a car, had a few Escort RS turbos but i must say i am excited to tinker with this one

Thanks for any input. Oh and any other recommendations on the parts i mentioned would be great.

Thanks dude, i looked at a few other forums and i liked the layout of this place best. So i will stick here will all you ford nuts

I was debating with an M3 E46 but i don't really want to spend the extra money.lol Plus i think for the 7k price of an ST220 they are an awesome car to own for that money.

Oh and i own a ST24 at the moment so i kind of like Mondeo's hehe.

Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to PF.

Induction kits tend to be a little hit or miss and might screw up the MAF (air flow sensor) if they're too heavily oiled.. I'd rather stick a K&N Panel Filter in the stock box and remove the resonator from the inner wing, should free up some sound but not suck in as much warm air as the open cone filter will.

Dreamscience seem to get a decent write up for the stuff they do on Focus ST/Fiesta ST etc so dont think you'll go far wrong there either.

Miltek stuff is expensive, but quality.

Cheers,
Grant

For me id get the E46 M3 if i had the choice of the two, although both are different cars...............

But yeah this is the best forum to ask and also not only Fords, as you will notice not all of us own Fords

Some may argue that if you'd bought the BMW this would have been the perfect place to ask for advice.......

Thanks everyone , i been looking at the magazine from hell "autotrader", I swear every time i pick that mag up i get a different car in my head.haha
Ive gone from wanting a mk2 fiesta RS Turbo 200bhp "from a mate". To an M3 E46 i was sure i wanted, then i just see what a BARGAIN price the ST220's are. Now i looked at the mag again and see the focus RS are not too much more. haha

I think the ST220 is the car as i like comfort as well as a nice amount of power. Thanks for the input Grant and Less. The M3 is the car i want but dont want to part with double the money of the ST220 for a decent one.
Oh and less your sig is well funny.

Ill hang around here chaps, this place is surely entertaining and got some characters here.

Even if you use a panel filter in the OE airbox one of the cold air feeds to the air box is not fitted on the 6 speed cars as it fouls the gear linkage. So one of the air feeds into the standard airbox (left hand side as you look at it from the front) is open to the engine bay anyway.

they are great cars overall but also the worst car I've had for losing performance on hot days, round town etc....

as someone already said cone filters are not great on these due to the excess heat under the bonnet, unless you rig up a pucker cold air feed and even that will only work properly when your moving..

You can buy the fitting for the OE airbox from the early 5 speed cars and you should be able to cut it back a little to avoin fouling the 6 speed gear linkages and then run some flexible air feed pipe out and under the front panel somewhere.

That way your retain the OE airbox and can get the full benefit of a panel filter with a much better than standard cold air feed.

I really don't understand why they left that side of the air box open to the engine bay on the 6 speed cars, seems crazy to me when a small re-design of one part would have taken care of it...

have a look on here as there were a few who were looking at this mod but it's a while since I sold my ST so I don't know if they ever did it. There is certainly some info on there about it though.. You'll need to register. You'l also got some good info on what pipe's filters and chips to use as most of them will have been tried by someone on there.

hope that helps
