help with a zetec turbo compression ratio
my mate is building a zetec turbo and burtons have taken on the job of machining his accrilite pistons to get a 7:5:1 compression ratio except my mate says when the engine is at TDC the piston is about 5mm lower than the block? is it just me or is this seriously seriously lower than what he wants? its an 86mm bore, with flat pistons (no bowl or cut outs) 1mm head gasket i think (focus rs) and half a thou of a blacktop head? any help much appreciated, cheers

he told burtons he was using a blacktop block, using silvertop rods and accrilite pistons, they said
'not a problem, we'll skim it to suit' lol but i think its too low the compression ratio

Do Burtons now sell Accrilite pistons for the Zetec turbo conversion? A few years ago I bought some from them and they were for the ZVH conversion, when trying to fit the 16v head the compression ratio worked out at 13:1, skimming that much off the tops of the pistons was not possible or sensible.

Vauxhall C20LET pistons on Ford silver top rods give around 7.4:1 in a silver top zetec engine.
Here's a photo of C20LET pistons at TDC in a silver top block
