does anyone know the best way to get an rs turbo to start after an engine rebuild and it has been sitting for over 18 months. I have a spark, compression, fuel smells ok, dont think its off. have tried easy start too, got it popping and banging but wont go that extra bit to start. any ideas or tricks of the trade?

tbh, if its sat for 18 months, id take it to a tuner down by you in all honesty. Maybe try pushing the flap down a tad in the metering head unit?

Try a table spoon of engine oil down each plug hole, and spin over with plugs out for 10 seconds, plugs back in and try again.

I would put fresh fuel in it just to make sure.

Is the timing correct?

it should start with easy start then die, so if your getting poping and banging timing is out.

Default getting fuel out

I have it running on easy start now with the turbo pipe off but not through the fuel metering unit, i think the fuel must be off. with the easy start it turns over revs up and send i big flame out the manifold that burnt my bloody arm and set my turbo pipe on fire where all the easy start was in it nice.

the fuel thats in it has been there for 18 months aint got much of a kick to it when u sniff it but lights up on the floor but i dont think that means jack???

unless the mfi needs setting up i dont no much about that??

any one no the best way to get the fuel out?

any ideas would be appreciated

Would be worth changing the fuel as you say, try cleaning the dizzy cap out as well matey, if it popping and farting, it might be grot on the contacts that the rotor arm sweeps, or they've gone green and furry or some such.

have you made sure that dizzie is is right place and that all plugs are gapped properly and clean, also that ur metering unit to inlet injector pipes are in right order and all ground wires are clean contact and not corroded? to give it that bit extra help starting try dipping the clutch ive heard that can help but never needed to do it myself
