what does your car mean to you??
I have been thinking over the last few weeks what means the most to me, and i come across my own car.
i wanted to know what your car means to you? and how much pride do you take over your car? or do you not take any pride over it or is it just a CAR.
I know cars are just metal, or in some cases, just rust. but i feel my car means alot more than i thought,
i brought my car 3 years ago after looking at 1000s of RST and looking at some real shitters till i came across this one, not only is it on a Dreg, it was also dry stored in a vauxhall garage for over 8years, i have all the sorn letters todate. with my problems ive been having, ive been thinking about looking at a will, and making sure my car would never be sold to some dodgy cartor that would crash it, or kill it, or not look after it correctly,
i know it has its problems, and that it sometimes becomes a pain in the arse, but it reflects me, my persnalty, the plate makes me gigle alot, D790PUD. Pudster. i have already found someone that will do more than look after it, and when i do pass away, hope not soon, then i know it will be kept in a clean manner, and i know the person who would look after it, would make sure it goes to someone that is just like me, who would treat it in respect, and keep it going for over than 100years.
Yes it maybe a Hole load of shit, or a Shitty Escort RS Turbo, but it can only improve, and brings alot of value to me, i know if someone did run into it, or maybe do something toit, would reck me, as its something that ive always wanted as a kid, and always get excited when i drive the damn thing. yeah its not perfect, but its mine, 100% paid for, i get so many looks, and so many people asking if im selling it, but no, its gotta stay, i will buy something like a FRS, but this will be hit with alot of money in the next 2 years to make it something i LOVE.
so does your car hold any centemtal value?
Ps. sorry about the spelling

i got to that stage where it always had one problem, you fix that problem, then two more come along, damn car.
BUT surely, if it didnt mean anyrthing or not alot to you, you'll get rid
? but you still have it, so it must mean something.. surely?

I like it as a car because its reasonably uncommon.
I also take a bit of pride in it, knowing I fitted the engine, box, brakes, etc... (virtually everything mechanical) myself.
I've done a fair bit of the work on the car single-handedly. It feels almost like I have some personal stake in its wellbeing, like a responsibility for it.
However, in comparison to my misses, my dog or any of my family it means nothing. I sold my 'fun' cars because the money they took would be far better spent on the misses or house.

Yeah I'm tied to my Sapphire Cossie. I bought the cheapest I could find, then of course the cambelt went meaning new top end, then I upgraded to Stage 3, T34 etc, then the bottom end went meaning new bottom end too, then shell condemned at MoT from rust, so reshell...
...now it's reshelled, I've paid for so much stuff along the way, I'll be keeping it for years now. Every bit on it I can tell a story about, so many bits bought off PassionFord users, etc. So yeah it's become a part of my life.

Out of the cars I've had, the only one I really miss is my XR3i, which was my second car, but my first "proper" car (prior to that I had my "starter" car, a 1.1 Fiat Uno )
The 3i was my first delve into "hot hatches" and I loved that car. Got it completely stock, ended up needing an engine rebuild, then decided to mod the shit out of it, body and interior, and so much effort and time was put into it, by me, my bro and my mates . We pretty much built the bodykit from scratch, using the obligatory S2 as a base to work from. It then went on to win two first places for best modified car in it's class
I still regret selling it now, even after 6yrs! I had two S1's after that, and whilst I miss them too, I miss the 3i more....
Nowadays, a car is a tool. It takes me from A to B. Well, when it works

no more Granada's for me
blimey, i'm about the only one that loves my car then, wash polish an stuff at the weekend, after i sold my old magenta granada cossie to my mate, he killed it and someone, so its took me the best part of 2 year to track down a real nice magenta granada 24v saloon.. but i found mine in dagenham, this may sound stupid but I don't even drive it much, probably only done 20 mile in the last month. I just like to see it on my drive. some people don't like the granada's, others do. here's mine...

My orion is my arch nemesis, every time i fix one thing, something else fucks up.
The mondeo is my daily wreck which is seemingly indestructable
Neither really mean a great deal to me though to be honest, it's just a car.

i have long passed the love of cars faze in my life, that dies with my old rs1600i and 205 gti, since then there just a way of not having to get a bus, had other 205 gtis and evos to try and get it back but the love has long gone, better things to do now than spend all my time breaking down and fixing cars, i hate working on cars now so no a car will never be more than just a lump of metal (or if i stick with fords a lump of rust)

10K+ Poster!!
Comes down to money I guess, if you are minted, then it will be "just" a car.
If you scrimp and save to buy that suspension or air filter youve wanted for so long, then it becomes more than a car I guess.
One of my old RST's we scrimped and saved to buy nice things for, got it looking really nice, sold it, and it was wrote off in less than a fortnight by a 17yr old.
That was a bit gutting and wish I'd never sold it.
Damn YB's!
