2 screwdrivers worked for me, just press into the holes one at a time and lever it around untill you can pull it out.

Which engine has it got? If its the normal 1.3 Finesse, i can swear by that engine. My one got battered everyday and the only problem it ever had was the ignition coil. Other than that, it was bliss!!! Then it died with not even 42K on the clock

Yeah and the cold air throwing out hot is something your gonna have to get use to lol

Nah. Its the 1.25 Zetec with the Yamaha engine! awesome little lump. Goes like a 1.4 if you ask me. Superb.

So the heater is broken Maria? I know the Aircon is broken. A front pipe is broken and the Twins didnt have time to fix it before you needed it.... If you have time you could take it somewhere and get it fixed for me?

Bless ya heart you did MORE than enough on that car before letting me use it!!! you mustve spent a FORTUNE on it!

Thank you so so so so so much for letting me borrow it youre a life saver!

As for the heater thingy, you can tell the cold air is just 'normal air' if that makes sense?!

Ill have a ring around honey and see if theres anywhere near here that can have a look! i have NO idea where anything is here! If not, ill wait til i move back to ipswich as i know a couple of people who might be able to sort it for me!

The old 1.3 lump is reliable enough, but sooooo crude.

The Zetecs are different class. I've raved enough about how much of a hoot the 1.7 Puma is to drive already, but it really is good!

If it blows hot all the time then its usually the heater control valve thats gone. VERY common problem on fiestas, transits etc of that era that use the same design valve. Easy to fix, just fit a new one and a bit fiddly with the hands to reach in and fit it but other than that no problems.

You'd rather have what is essentially an old crossflow over a Zetec???

The 1.8 Zetec in Focus' are an older version than the 1.6 and 2.0, and not as great, but still a decent engine. Certainly a hell of a lot better than that 70's relic!

the focus zetec R is a completely different engine to the Zetec SE found in 1.25, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 forms found in fiestas, pumas, 1.6 focus etc.

The zetec SE has an alloy block and head and was developed by yamaha for ford so is very efficient for what it is.

The Zetec R is a pile of crap by engineering comparison.

The zetec SE's flaw is it wasnt built in huge numbers and being very efficient already means limited capability for tuning without costly rebuilds.

The zetec SE drives completely different to a Zetec E/R engine. Its a high revving screamer.

Dude that Crossflow never gave me a ounce of trouble. I've had the Focus for 6 months now and had the Idle Valve Control replaced, Head Gasket (at 26K), Radiator and pipes. Only now its running sweet but now the gearbox is whining like a monkey on smack

That explains a hell of alot. Maybe i'll buy a Puma to replace the Focus

The SE is brilliant.

The E is still a good engine though. The amount of them I had, and they all took endless abuse. The best one I know took countless abuse from me and the 2 previous owners. One New Year's Eve it was flat out at c.120mph for over an hour and it never missed a beat. Still lives on now in a Fiesta somewhere in Essex.

I'll always have a lot of respect for the Zetec.
