get it remoted, pass and then accept the fine of 60 quid,, insurance and tax are valid and they get there cash so wont bother with no insurance bollox otherwise when she was pulled then would have also done her for no insurance on the spot as thats now a fixed penalty and not court appearence,,,, though so is also no MOT i thought too

Insurance certificates state that the car must be roadworthy, not that the car most be MOT'd otherwise you would be breaking the law every time you drove an expired car to an MOT station.

Get it MOT'd straight away, as at least that will prove it was roadworthy, plus more to the point she wont get stopped again then!

As chip says get tested right away, no mot cannot invalidate the insurers third party risk, though can for yourself if fully comp, ie it drops to third party risk only.
Though of course last man standing rule applies in the event it needs to.
As the mot are all on a database now, it's a pity that DVLA don't send a reminder like they do for tax, as I'm sure a lot do genuinely forget.
This is the reason I have mine, mot/tax/insurance all start at the same time, just as a reminder.

Statey this happened to me mate! Got pulled and given producer, realised my MOT expired 6 weeks ago! I got it MOT'd right away, went to the police station with my docs and new MOT - they of course noticed that it was out of MOT when I was stopped, but took details of new MOT etc.

About 2 months later, I got a letter saying they were not going to proceed on this occasion. I got let off totally scot free

AND I also had mates and everyone else telling me I would get the book thrown at me, that I was technically uninsured blah blah blah... all fucking wrong!!!

So get it MOT'd like I did, take docs in, you have shown goodwill by getting a new MOT right away, they know you are human and people do forget stuff like this! Good luck though I don't think you need it!

It was tabetha who said that not me, but yes I agree too, although that said most main dealers and more professional testing stations DO send out reminders.

MOT offence is one of strict liability. Get it tested soon as and cross your fingers the Police decide to take NFA.

totally false. no mot doesnt automatically invalidate your insurance and no mot is non endorsable with a fine but no points. unless theres any defects on the car making it unroadworthy?

which you would still be done for if pulled in a routine check

if i got a bend MOT all the garages asked me to do is not drive it for 24 hours,,, that way there is fuck all they can do them unless theres structual damage

MOT is a fine,, doubt you will get away with not paying it but you wont get given 18 points that muppet on here once suggested hes "mate " got

Right got pulled on Friday , car got mot`d saturday morning and passed missus went in to the police station in her work suit to give a better impression with the new ticket and a very apologetic manner, and she was told the officer who issued the ticket would receive the correct paperwork and it was down to him what happens now, but he was a really nice copper and hopefully he will make the right choice! stuck the reminder sticker in the window for the future.....
