Default RS2K problems

as above i have a j reg rs 2000 track car and last track day it started pulling badly to left and right when i boot it or go slow ........ive changed the bottom arms and wheel bearings......still the same i was thinking maybe engine or gearbox mount but it really is bad when the car is on axle stands and i release clutch there sounds like a loud banging coming from gearbox area, could it be diff in box or a shaft ?????? i know it needs box removing to kow for sure ,but just wondering if anyone else has had the same problems..........cheers jeff

I have a mk5 RS2k track car too

A worn engine mount can make the car veer, a quick check can be done by trying to rock the engine back and forth by grasping the cam cover. The usual mount to go is the one located just below the brake servo.

As too the clutch related problem, prop best to remove the box and inspect if the engine mounts are ok.

I remember richrs2k and think I've seen the car, thou cannot be sure!

The MTX-75 box is pretty strong, but not industructable! So might be wise to remove it and give it a good inspection

As you have suspected the usual cause of the car veering left and right on the throttle is the lower arms, but since you have replaced these it has to be engine mounts or the gearbox itself. The inner CV joints, also known as tripods, can wear and are quite expensive from Fords, so a quick solution is to swap them over as they wear in 1 direction by swapping them you are then wearing them in a fresh direction
