A worn engine mount can make the car veer, a quick check can be done by trying to rock the engine back and forth by grasping the cam cover. The usual mount to go is the one located just below the brake servo.
As too the clutch related problem, prop best to remove the box and inspect.

i dont think the mounts are great but think its the box as its horrific to drive slow or fast
its done lots of track days some on slicks ,it was richrs2k old car? i ve had a bit done on it since bought it off him? dont know if you have seen it before..cheers jeff
