That's all very true, but surely they should be trying to encourage me to join? Showing off the club and welcoming potential new members with open arms, not asking me to reach into my wallet straight away?

I do get a bit fed up of "It's only £30". To some people, that's more than others, and I don't feel I should be made to join a third owners club, when I'm members of others that do everything I want from a club. I don't want to show with the RSOC, I have loyalties to other clubs, and I'm not bothered about magazines and the like, so I effectively would be paying £30 just to go to Nat Day. I though the whole point of the day was to showcase the RS brand and the RSOC, not say, this is our show, for us, and you can only bring your RS if you give us money first. It almost makes it sound like you want exclusive rights to the things. It should be about enthusiasts and friends getting together and enjoying themselves.

It seems something of a mute point though, as according to others, I can show my 2k with a visiting club without being a full RSOC member, which is good, as joing the RSOC is something I'm not entirely sure I wish to do at this point.

Thats why its a visiting club.

I totally agree that if a member of the a local RSOC (cleveland, durham, tyne and wear, north yorks etc) doesnt want to join the main RSOC they cant get on their club stand at nat.day. Always been that rule as far as I have known, but then like I have been asked just today from a lad who is a RSOC local group wants to come with us as he doesnt want to pay to the nat.club (for whatever reason - got nowt to do with me) then I havent got a problem with that. Yes, we should maybe be telling them well join main RSOC and support your own local group, I am not in a position to tell that person what to do.
Well, hopefully that clears it up, thanks for your help Rach, and for the emails too, much appreciated

Well lm not going to go there

Ive had my say and really its up to if you want to join or not

Just if we all had the attitude that im not paying £30 where would the club be? Sorry but one of the main club revenue is membership.

Also one big benefits is agreed valuation and a good club insurance which also covers track day at rsoc shows, worth every penny

Im sure this topic will go on and on

What you's are all missing is, that your not prepared to join the national rsoc but want to show yours cars at the RSOC's national day, having not paid a penny towards the club, unlike the members that have paid memberships fees lol. Dont seem right somehow that people come on and say this is wrong, thats wrong etc when them people have not had a thing to do with the national club and have not paid a membership fee to become a member to really have a say on whats wrong etc.

I sort of see your point...

BUT, what I want to do, is take my Ford Escort, and show it with the club that I have been a member of for a number of years. Just because it has an RS badge on it, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to stay loyal to the club that I've already paid a membership fee for, and that I will be paying for an entry ticket into the show, which is more expensive than an RSOC member's would be.

I see no problem with that at all to be honest. If I wanted to be on an RSOC regional stand, then fair enough, but I don't, I want to show MY car with MY friends, it shouldn't matter whether it's an RS or a 1.1, if I pay for the ticket, and understand I'll be in the visiting clubs area, that's up to me isn't it

My opinion is the seme as scotts, Clive (righthooker) and anyone else that believes only full rsoc members should be on local group stands at nat day, it's nothing new to the club and has been this way for many years,.
It's not about £30 for one show, with that you are a member for a year get 6 issues of rallye news and if needed insurance discounts in most cases I have been a member for 14 years now and will be for the next 14 and onwards supporting the club.
really don't understand what the fuss is about if no one pays there membership fee's then they will be no nat day and no rsoc..simple..
lets just support the club for what it is ment for ...enjoying the RS marque..

Most people have said nothing about being on RSOC regional stands without being a member, I agree with that. If you want to show with a club, you should be a paid member.

There just seems to be a mass of confusion about the rules regarding visiting clubs and whether they're allowed to display RS vehicles and whether those doing so have to be RSOC members.

I think people on this site just like fighting really

We will see how many members we lose to RSmania stand this year?

Because every year people get asked to join the main club , they say they will and dont, yourself included.By then the tickets are ordered so to late.
Its the rsoc mate , your happy to go to events but wont join up , dont give me its the cost bolox because you do ok , you just wont spend it

You would have probably had a more concise reply if you had posted the question on the RSOC forum.

Ive never said i wanted to join the RSOC. AND why does everything you mention have to do with money? Its got NOTHING to do with the money whatsoever, ive never once said get me the tickets i'll join the RSOC, as quite simply, i wont.

Dicko, how many times in the last 4 years have you had a car of your own on the club display??
I dont know what happened last year, but in previous years people have had tickets only if they have been members or lied about being members or promosed to join up.

What is it that you have a problem with about joining the rsoc, i know you dont need the insurance as you are a trader lol, but then again i dont use it either.
The magazine is ok , and you get into nat day a bit cheaper.
I join to support the club, and i enjoy the shows and the envolvement, its a social thing for me .

i will confirm the exact rules for this years national day as soon as the organiser calls me tomoro

as for rs mania stand, its probably not a good idea to blatantly offer to space to somebody in the way you did for all to see in a public forum !!

rs mania is for your members and not to be used as a car park

as for the local groups, all cars need to be full members with rs cars and yes i know there were 2 cars last year that were not !!

regards

Dave

I enjoy the local groups, thats why i pay money to be a member of our group, but i quite simply dont see the need to pay to be part of the RSOC. If you had to be a full paid member to be in any show on any stand, i would pay it, but not purely for the use of stand at National Day. None of the offers they provide are of any use to me whatsoever, which is why i dont want to join.

For the past 4 years ive had my own car on stand for 3 of them

I have asked the question of someone in the RSOC, just waiting for an answer.

I only started asking questions here, as I was reading this and it came up.

Who the fuck do the RSOC think they are telling people where they can park their own cars ??? SURELY it would make a better show with more cars, more people attending and maybe the RSOC would gain more new members rather than saying "It's our stand or not at all !!!" Sounds like a fucking 7 year old "It's my football and you are not playing !!!" No wonder people don't want to join....and as for the regional clubs I've been to....if you like being ignored by people who are far too far up their own arse fill your boots.....

Funny thread this!

Just to clear a few things up I have been organising the Oddkiddcreations stand in the VISITING CAR CLUBS AREA for the past 5 yrs and every year we have a great selection of RS CARS!!! on display.
There has never been a problem with this and half of us ain't members either of the RSOC due to what ever reasons.
I am a memeber of my local RS group but not the National RSOC that is why I choose to have my RS on display on the Oddkidd Stand as do many others.

I have got the booking forms here in front of me for this yr and it DOES NOT SAY RS CARS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON VISITING CAR CLUB STANDS!
And when I was sent the forms from Ricky wood he knows we all have RS cars on there so thats why its not a problem.
And lets face it if they wern't allowed on the stands half the show would be empty!

Thats why I do laugh cause of the shit that happens on here every yr!

So if I parked my RS on a stand of MY choice where would the money go to ??? Oh yeah the RSOC.....so what's the problem ??? Which ever way you look at it they will generate revenue from me and others instead of trying to alienate us.

They do mate but they make it back through the ticket prices not just memberships through the yr!

Hence the reason for visiting car clubs cause with out the other clubs there you may as well hold the show somewhere smaller lol.

Cause all said and done the RS Stands are only on the melbourne hairpin section of the track!
