Before you start generalising like mad, some of us don't have money to chuck about on this, that, and the other all the time...

I pay to be a member of two other owners clubs as it is, why should I join a third for the sake of one show, when I don't even use that club for technical support or any of the things it's in place for.

But if the question has been answered that visiting clubs are allowed non-RSOC RS cars on display, then it doesn't matter anymore from my point of view.

Making sweeping statements like that is pointless when you don't know about people's backgrounds.

It isn't over a year though, unless you can pay installments

This forum might be full of people who can afford to spunk thousands and thousands on a regular basis, but not all of us can. At this point, during summer, and being stuck at uni right through, I'm fookin skint.

I can think of a million and one things I could better spend £30 on than joining yet another owner's club!

There would not be a national day if people did not pay membershps fees its simple. So why should people who do not contribute towards the national club be allowed to show there cars?

Its £37 quid a year aint much really over the course of a year, but when it comes to shows the people who dont pay fees seem to want there cars shown, why should people pay for this privelage and then some people expect it for nothing lol.

If people aint happy about not being allowed to show there cars, why dont they do what everyone else does and join the club and get the benefits of being able to do this.

Because I was under the impression from this thread that I would not be able to show on a visiting club stand with my RS because I'm not an RSOC member. If that isn't the case, then it's no problem.

I'm not complaining that non members aren't allowed to show on RSOC stands, as that's how most clubs operate, just that it would be excessive not to let any RS cars into the visiting club area, unless they were owned by paying RSOC members.

And also that people complain when you have more important things to spend out on that club membership, I think it feels to some of us that unless you've got thousands to burn on cars, you just aren't good enough to be involved

I maintain it myself, it doesn't do that many miles, and it isn't a Cossie/RST, so it isn't THAT bad, it's just a MK6 Escort with a Sierra engine in basically

Does that mean I'm not allowed to play cos I'm not loaded

Its utter bollocks like this that probably puts people off joining the club by putting ideas in their heads like this.

It isn't my idea....

I've met some great people through the RSOC and do attend local meets when I can fit it around being away at uni and things. I'm not saying that it's true in all instances, but it's something that I've heard mentioned by a lot of people over the years so it's obviously come from somewhere.

Anyway, if non RSOC members are allowed on visiting club stands with their RS cars, I have no issue, that was my only concern.

Whether or not I spend money on joining the national RSOC is my business, we all have our own priorities, and loyalties to groups/clubs, just some things I consider to be more important

I must admit that when I had the Focus I saved a lot on insurance just by quoting my RS Membership so that in itself made it worth the membership and there's usually some good group buys on the BB

To some people, it means more than others. I'm sure there's people on here who could happily spend £30 here there and everywhere. Some people can't.

You have no idea what goes into running the club or organising an event like national day! I help setup national day every year and help with judging etc on the day too so I put a little bit more back into it aswell. People like you just jump on the band wagon as usual.

Me and eric are fully paid up members of the RSOC. have done for yrs and probs always will be. We were in a RSOC local group as committee members for nearly 3 yrs and that was the rule i explained to everyone, can go anywhere you want member or not of the main RSOC but nat.day, not paid, cant go on the stand.

Now we run a regional club, RS-MANIA, not affiliated with the RSOC, have ST's, RS's and GTI's in our group, no membership fee, apart from £7.50 a yr for gold membership for RS-MANIA if you want to, gets you benefits and advantages on the site and thats it.

Scott, maybe I go this wrong, and clive I dont want to cause any friction between anyone, but if someone from an RSOC local group isnt a paid up member of the main RSOC and cant go with that group, are they not allowed to go with a visiting car club, e.g us? Its the same for us, theres a lad a member of RS-MANIA but goes to some shows with his RSOC local group?

I dont want a debate, I just want to T&C's as you both know me, I like to play by the rules.

This is all getting a bit silly to be honest.

I pay to be in other clubs, and I do appreciate that organising such an event takes an immense amount of work, and having been involved with a few clubs over the years, I know it's a lot of hard work running them, and can be a thankless task.

And yes, I will be at National Day, but I'll be paying an entry fee, so I don't see how that's a problem! I have no interest in being on an RSOC stand, as I have ties to other clubs. My question was only whether I'm allowed my RS on a visiting club stand, as I was given the impression by this thread that I wasn't.

Whether I pay to join the RSOC is up to me to be quite honest, and if I pay the entry fee to the show, I don't really see how it's any kind of problem!

The answer you were 1st looking for is yes. You can show your car on a stand if you are part of a visiting car club. £15 for you and the car, passengers pay on the day. the £15 you pay would have to be advance ticket to get your car pass or you couldnt get on any stand. You have to book advance if you dont already know this to get it at that price. Its £17 otherwise on the day to park infield. (scott, correct me on that if I'm wrong)

Hope this helps!

im not a 100% sure on that i thought that only applied to the local groups which are in the infield
cant remember if there is clubs with rs cars on the outer field

That's all I'm looking for really, as that was my initial concern! As that would seem a bit of a barmy rule to me. When's the cut off date for arranging a club stand do we know? Need to get on to our events chap to sort it out!

Just seemed to descend into a 'you must join our club debate'

Every single year,

The show isn't put on for the general public it's for the members but the general public are welcome to come along and enjoy our day.

The rule last year was if you have an RS model on a visiting stand you have to be a fully paid member of the club.

If you don't like the club or it's rules don't attend.

The rules seem to change every couple of posts

Well if that's the case, and it's YOUR day, being a relatively new RS owner, that's a really great way to encourage me to join your club isn't it. Telling me my car isn't even allowed through the gates, even if I pay you for a stand pass with a visiting club, unless I effectively give you three quarters of a tank of fuel first

In all fairness the visiting group would have been there last year so they know the rules. It's the organiser of that group you want to be asking questions.

Last year you could not have a RS on a visiting NON RS group club stand

Hopefully its the same this year, at the end of the day it the RSOC national day so if you have a RS you should be supporting your local group any paying to be a full member

As a chairman of the Surrey RS Owners Club l think it a great idea so if your thinking of coming then you should be supporting your local group who will be able to get on club stand at ND

OK, so based on that, sifting through all the fighting, and apparently conflicting information, the club I am with, FEOC-UK which is a totally general Ford club, can apply for a stand in the visiting clubs area, and I can have my RS2000 on their stand without being a member of the national RSOC?

Is that right?

I do see that to a point Dave, but I've only had the car a month, and haven't really considered joining the RSOC yet, as I don't know if I really want to, which is obviously my choice.

I've been a member of the club I'm in for a number of years, as I am a Ford enthusiast first and foremost, and I am loyal to that club and have a number of friends in it, who I would like to show my car with.

This just seems to throw up endless contradictions!

Is that right?
Yes thats right. Theres members of north east mania coming with us who are not paid up members. We have nothing to do with the RSOC even though me and eric and a couple of other lads in our group are full paid up members of the RSOC, but as far as our group goes we dont have anything to do with them. Thats why its a visiting club.

I totally agree that if a member of the a local RSOC (cleveland, durham, tyne and wear, north yorks etc) doesnt want to join the main RSOC they cant get on their club stand at nat.day. Always been that rule as far as I have known, but then like I have been asked just today from a lad who is a RSOC local group wants to come with us as he doesnt want to pay to the nat.club (for whatever reason - got nowt to do with me) then I havent got a problem with that. Yes, we should maybe be telling them well join main RSOC and support your own local group, I am not in a position to tell that person what to do.
