Default Fiat 500 - Anyone have one or know much about them?

My mate's sister wants to get one and asked me if I thought they were any good.

Opinions, advice please.

Thanks in advance.

Currently in the process of getting one for my sister. She is still deciding on what spec and options she wants. (there are millions of permutations) We've been out in a few and are all nice cars, bit more room inside than the mini surprisingly. I was actually quite impressed with it. I am trying to talk her into getting the Abarth version, but she's not wearing it. She just likes it because it looks like a bug!!

Also, 2nd hand prices aren't much cheaper than brand new. There is a 12week wait I think on all new cars. Salesmen reluctant to offer discounts as they are selling out no problem.

Just to add, if anyone is a Fiat salesman and can offer a good deal PM me.

My wife has had one for just over a year now and she thinks it's great.

Reckon she's going to go for it. Been on Parkers today and the reviews are pretty good.

Ford decided to use the Panda/500 chassis, engines, and some switchgear for the new KA, yes.

Very reliable so far, with only a few cars with minor niggles. Fiat are really pushing hard to iron-out any faults and improve the public's perception of the brand.

Every TV, newspaper and magazine review I've read or watched about the 500 seems very complimentary. A great alternative to a Mini, and more fun the normal Corsa / Ka / Clio / Modus type offerings.

BSM has just bought thousands to use as learner cars, replacing the Corsa.

My mates Mrs. has one and absolutely loves it. I did consider a scrappage deal on a 1.2 pop for £6300 but the poverty spec and overwhelming girlieness put me off.
They hold their money well at the moment, just hope that in future they are sought after like a MINI, not an embaressment like a new Beetle.

Incidently did you notice that every colour except white is an extra cost option. £275 for a plain colour, £375 for metallic!

Edit: the scrappage was on a shagged out old peugeot, not the Saph!

A guy on my road has the Ferrari Edition. Went for a spin in it. Fucking great fun car. Preferred it over the Fiesta ST.
