1.3's were base, and I mean BASE models, so most, if not all of them wouldn't wear any badges other than the basic FORD SIERRA and nothing else to denote them

i saw loads of them in cortinas and early doors sierras bitd.
the 1.3 sierra donkeys looked like 1.6's and if you bunged in a 2.0 litre the same as that too,i could tell a pinto by looking in the right place on the block as it said 1.3,1.6,2.0.

Same here !

A mate of mine had one with a HT Pinto in it, slammed on 17" old style Mo's in white with that lovely standard blue paint !

Was a seriously cool car back then and tbh it still would be now !

I bet there is a few kicking around in garages that have been forgotten about around the world

used to see brown 3dr's with 1.3's on disability so the old boy could hobble into his new car and have plenty of room to get in and not knock his calliper on his gammy leg.
i'm sure the shitter the colour the cheeper on motability the deal was

IIRC the 1.8 Pinto was called the Emax engine.

I don't think the valves were as big as the 2 litre BUT the heads had a much smaller combustion chamber giving a higher CR and leaving scope for tuning for squish, also from what I remember the 2 litre inlet port was a bit too big and fitting 2 litre size valves to the 1.3 head gave a better port to valve ratio combined with the CR made people like HT Racing start with the 1.3 head when building a hot 2 litre.
