Default help! YB head dilema

cant decide what to do regards my 3drs head,it needs valves, guides & seals

came as a bit of a shock to find the best price for these is circa £520 before fitting em (i do know stuff aint cheap for em after 10 yrs ownership)

now was wondering what my options are can anyone help

do i bite the bullet and go ahead with it as the head i am told is good (dont know how thick it is tho)

or look for another one complete but is unknown to me & sell on my remains of a head

someone please help i want to get it back on the road

a deecent stock head got to be around 500 with plenty of meat on it ,

i know someone who paid double for a big spec ported head that came off a low miler car ,

all depends on what power you want , if you plan on keeping the car ,

if its to get running to sell , then find a cheap head ,

if your keeping it and going 350 and up

may advice would be to pay for the parts mate,

im rebuilding mine albeit without new valves ,

he first needs to check the thicknes of his head beef

but if it was me id wait for a good one to come allong they do quite often

cos ontop of your £520 parts bill it will be around 350 to have it built and machined and cleaned

when it comes to spending your hard earned cash mate , dont ever feel bad ,

nothing wrong with a second opinion .

even the straighest of folk play the game when it comes to business ,

if he throws a shitty , give the work to another respected engineering company ,

Cossies suffer terribly with guide wear, and valve wear, and people reface the valves, which is not good in a cossie engine, as the edges will get so thin they will glow.
My head cost me £550, that was skim 8 new exhaust valves, 16 giudes made out of COLSHIBO, best you can get, each guide machined to fit, seats cut 3 angle etc etc.
Not all machine shops are rip off artists, the one I use has never done that, he often turns people away saying it doesn't need this or that, got plenty of life left, he's seriously stacked out work wise, but has done some rush jobs for me, like for roosie's mate who was flat out in 3rd gear went to 4th and hit 2nd!!.

the valves available cheaply on ebay are ok for a budget rebuild - much cheaper than genuine ones
