Default HELP Had to smash the car window! BMW

I had to smash the window on my e39 530i sport the other day when my 5 yr old son locked the doors while the car was running in my mums driveway!!

Since it was running in the driveway I phoned BMW and explained what had happened, asked them if there was any tricks to get in? Service manager went to workshop to ask the mechs, "nope, need to smash it", ok how much and what s the easiest to replace, "drivers", okay dokay when can you do it. Tomorrow, but try auto glass they might be able to come out right now. I phoned auto glass, £384 quid!!!! Nope sorry, its only 131 from BMW, think i will wait till tomorrow.

WHACK

Went in the next day and came out working and car all valeted, cool.

hmmm, not cool, next morning battery was flat.....bumped it, went and got battery checked, guy said it was original battery and solid! hmm ok, next day ok??? ? NExt day flat after 3 hrs in a car park? Flat again that night! Flat again this morning!

Its going into BMW to get a drain test over night tomorrow..

My question is could the guy have done something to it when he fitted the new window, he didnt take the battery able off and the guy at BMW says that he shouldnt have to take any wires off apart from the ones that he needs to for the window?

Any help would be appreciated

Cant belive the bloke at bm told you to smash the window, if it wasnt deadlocked it would have been quite simple to get in my mate locked his keys in his E46 a few weeks back and we were in in minutes.

Could you not have persuaded (bribed!) him to unlock it?

Also for future reference blocking off the tailpipes would have caused it to stall.

Blimey you'll forever be finding bits of glass. You should have covered the glass in duck tape before you smashed it, that would have held the glass together, and it would have come out in pretty much one piece.

I bet the AA/Rac could have been in in very little time too.
