I have had the car apart this week due to needing a helicoil and sorting out other underbonnet issues.
When putting the car back together today my brother and i noticed a small water stain under No3 exhaust port, looked in the head and you could also see some staining, also No3 on the exhaust manifold was white and the other 3 black.
Decided to take the head off and No3 piston had a nice pool of water and antifreeze sitting on top of it
Don't look like any damage to the gasket, the head has a few small cracks around the spark plug.
Might be the block but can't see anything

Steve

as above; exhaust side of the block; number will look like this at the end 99

i think there is alot of people steer of these for the wrong reasons tho. i'd rather have a turkish block than a 205 block

Euan had one in his saff at 550hp, scooby slayer had one at 472bhp, i think Mad Ade has got one and his is 700hp

Ade has run at circa 600bhp for over 12 months or so, hes hopeing its well heat cycled by now & can take the full 700bhp very soon.

Steve,

Your block will be fine, turkish ones can cope with decent power anyway, just when heading to the silly heights of 800bhp + they struggle..

No mate, sometime this week...........

Both Rods and Daves were brand new blocks, and had not been through any heat cycles, so it's suspected that the blocks both flexed due to the mahoosive torque causing the liners to move.

I'm intersted in yours and Rods theory that the blocks get heat cycled.

From what i know of cast iron it needs to be elevated to temps way higher than 100 deg c to be normalized or hardened and any hardening that does occur is limited.

Aint any theory behind anything , Ade will find out if heat cycles & perlonged use make it last with 700bhp, if it dont he will require a new Block. Daves warped in the mid 600's & mine did the same at about 750bhp we know another Tuner has had the same probs at these levels. If we had any theory on these Blocks we would not have used the B****y things .

The other block was only a normal pinto one with cossie internals and lasted 9 years LOL

The one in the car now is a cossie 205 block and has lasted about 18 months

Oh well, dig out the 200 block and get that all built up.

Do i go for a higher spec though ?????

Of course you go for a higher spec steve. No point in using the 200 block and staying at the same power

Not true, they warp & head gaskets lets go. When measured the rear of my Block dropped away .004" but that was enough. Think Daves went in the middle but not sure.

The person getting that built is not sensible with the information that others are giving out, very expensive if that goes the same way.
