Both Rods and Daves were brand new blocks, and had not been through any heat cycles, so it's suspected that the blocks both flexed due to the mahoosive torque causing the liners to move.
I'm intersted in yours and Rods theory that the blocks get heat cycled.
From what i know of cast iron it needs to be elevated to temps way higher than 100 deg c to be normalized or hardened and any hardening that does occur is limited.
