removing cossie head..
that seems fine. my problem is that when i am putting it back on, i am gonna use a set of old head bolts to guide it on but i think the downpipe is in the way of the 2wd exhaust manifold. anyone experienced this? or can i get away with short guide bolts and slip the manifold back under the down pipe then onto the bolts?
thanks any imput would be helpful, i am trying to avoid removeing downpipe.

It is difficult but possible, you just need to get exhaust as far out the way as possible, you should just be able to get it back far enough if you unhook it from the hangers underneith and lower the roll bar

that should be fine then steve I reckon I got 30-40 mm cleanance with the downpipe tied back and to the side. how do ya get the bolts back out of the head? as they are soo short? I will cut grooves to unscrew them, then do ya just use a set of long nose pliers?

long nose pliers are shit, you want a magnet on a stick
personally, i remove the downpipe. it's an easy job and just require 4 bolts to be undone. it's all stainless anyway, and the exhaust is flanged together rather than the big tube clamped over smaller tube method.
