4wd 3dr ???
ok i have a little bit of a dilemma, i think i want to go 4wd for forrest rallying, 2wd was fun but i think more traction would defo equal more speed .
so my options , strip my current car spend the req amount - somewhere in the region of 5k and make it 4wd and carry on using this, or sell/part ex my car and buy an escort with some nice bits and still then pay the extra 5k or so ??
there are pros and cons to both , firstly , my current shell is well known to me because i built it, has never had any major damage, and has no rot etc etc and is built to a good standard, but the bodywork will req alot of mods , etc new tunnel enginemountings etc etc
if i bought an escort it would have the 4wd system, but may be a crock of a shell, may(prob will) need a full rebuild to my standard , but would have the smaller wheelbase and could be an advantage ???
but escort cosworths in rallying are like the clitoris
of couse by then i would lose teh 2wd advantages for dry tarmac but thats not what its for , and then have the complication of 4wd system
any views please

Just joking mate.
Of course I'd go 4wd in the forest! Christ, even on the loose gravel stages, the old Mk2s (of which there are thousands stage rallying as you know) look spectacular, but slow.
If you're gonna look for better results, you'd have to go 4wd, but it's gonna cost! What transmission?

yeh i reckon on 5k for a box and front diff plus props etc providing i can get a ratio i need for my rear ?? you can pick up a used quaife dogbox for approx 3k and would have to have a thickwall front case with a plated front gripper unit , that should give a little reliability ????

Unless you have got the money to keep throwing at 4wd stay away.
You'll end up chasing your tail around the next weekest link in the chain of components.
Richard bought that car of Copey and has thrown 000's at it to keep it running.
If you have a reliable car at the minute stick with it and just drive it harder
