Ive been in the ford seen for bout 6yrs now but am still very tempted with his skyline, its just sitting in his garage at the mo gathering dust, its not even done 1000miles on the new engine yet. Im just worried bout how much it will cost if it when wrong, isit the same sort of money to fix as a cossie?

second hand gearbox Ł350
new crank Ł700
forged pistons Ł600
twin gt28 turbos Ł1200
oil pumps are dearer though they range from Ł200 to Ł1500 !

in all honesty mate there not any more expensive and capable of alot more bhp with alot less work.
there just a far better car to start with than a cossie imo.
and a 32 is only 100 kg more than a saph.
the r32 gtr was specifically built to beat the rs500s in touring cars and it did. didnt get to run in the uk as when it came on the scene in 1991 turbos were already banned.
but it did what it was built for in 1991 and 1992 in japan and australia and took home the majority of the trophies.

they have there akilies heel though. cossies seem to have mainly headgasket and cracked block failures whereas the rb26dett suffers with crank and oil pump issues due to oil starvation and broken piston ringlands.

my mate has a skyline 34 over 500bhp and my saff went past him on a private test road like he was stopped!!!!!!!my saff was over a 500bhp 2wd saff and really did destroy him!he also let me drive his car around oulton park ,it went very well and sounded good but handeled shite the difference between my car and his was massive ,BUT my car has just gone bang after only been built 3500 miles agoso skyline winsam seriously considering a r33

saph should be quicker straight line with same power as a r34 as they are much heavier.

Well his is a R33 GTS but its got a RB26 engine init and is still RWD, the engine rebuild was done by ''rising sun performance'', are they any good?

i guess if you dont know the answer to either of them, then i suspect a blown motor was always going to be the end result

anyhow, good luck with whatever you decide

you must of had more power then. and you must have some trick suspension too to out handle a skyline.
