Default Whats better xr2 or xr2i

Im racing the last part of this season in the 750 Stock hatch champonship

ive got the choice of a xr2i or mk2 xr2

what is the better track car the engine has to stay standard, ive been offered a full track ready 1991 xr2i and a 1987 xr2

On track like that I wouldn't like to say. The XR2 handles better (imho) but it's a competition car not a road car so......

I personally think the xr2 by a mile. Handling, reliablity, no ECU, sensors etc to go wrong

XR2, CVH XR2i handled like a dog, and the EFI is an early Ford attempt!

mk2 all the way my mate had a xr2i and the mk2 was faster on straights and corners and the 2i had a kent cam, other than that both cars were standard, mk2 is more of a buzz to drive anyway

i would say the XR2, just because its far easier to "tune" the engine slightly as it has the carb. the EFI can be fairly easily checked for re-maps/chips etc, where as the carb is just "set up"... that and the XR2 handles really well!

look forward to seeing you soon then, I am racing in 750mc in the 106.

there are still quite a few xr2's in stockhatch, and a couple of xr2i's as well.

it will really come down to the actual car and how well its been prepared eg has it got decent suspension (leda), has someone done some work on the engine, and its worth thinking about what sort of cage its got, the stronger the better.

main thing is get hold of a car thats proven to be reliable nothing worse than spending the money to enter, taking the time to get there and the thing breaks down or wont last the race, if not reliable then its not worth turning up!

hi

I'll be at brands number 85, red 106.

best result is 2nd (in the heat) at brands when I had my nova.

the people at the front are spending a lot more than the people in the middle/tail end, and the standard of driving is really good.
