Someone changed the wheel bearing in my friends 1.6 2003 focus and decided he would just throw away the abs ring on the drum meaing the abs light came on the dash obv
So ive now put the new abs ring in but does the abs fault light code need deleted with the computer as it is still on.
I tried disconnecting the battery for an hour to see if that would wipe it but it is still on?
Thanks

It should perform a self test when you turn the ignition on every time, when I used to practise my fwd power slides with the aid of the handbrake it used to bring the abs light on.
Turning the engine off and back on again cleared it straight away though.
Is the sensor gapped properly?
Try running it about for a while, I know that if the car's engine management light comes on for a brief glitch in the system, it will stay on for the next 20 times the car is started until it will go out again.

The light has been on for about a month or more.
Thats what i thought maybe because it is a safety thing it needs to see that it is just a one off and it would stay on once problem is fixed for a while. Ill try that later and take it for a drive etc,
The sensor screws directly into the stub axel so i dont think there is anyway of gapping it?

Took it out this afternoon ad after about 10mph the abs turns off but then turns on again after about 10 seconds.
Must be something else wrong or a dodgy new sensor as it isnt genuine one
genuine ford one is Ł120

Could be worth booking it into ford for them to check the system through, they can read the output of the sensors and tell you which one is playing up. They'll probably charge you an hours labour, but that'll be cheaper than hours of head scratching and changing sensors un-necessarily!

The light went off and then came on again, hence why I had to replace it.

I have to do the rear shoes sometime soon also so i will have another look at the sensor ring. It was a new one that was fitted tho.
One thing is, the one that was on the car has teeth where as the replacement one from ford was smooth unless the teeth are under the coated bit if that makes sense, is this just a new design?
