Default Holiday to california

Me and the girlfriend are thinking about going to california next year and starting to save up and have a really good holiday for 2-3 weeks or so.

We are thinking about renting a car and just going with flow and traveling around rather than booking hotels and being stuck in places or set days

Anyone been to california and where are the best places to go?

Alcatraz prison would be good to see.
Holywood
Malibu Beach
San Fransicso
LA

What would you all recommend?

Thanks

Did you book them ahead of just like turn up somewhere and find one? Did you do it in california?

We are thinking we would rather enjoy the money doing things and eating out than an expensive hotel that we will just sleep in, its not like we will be staying in the hotel during the day

I went to San Fran - You will need to book Alcarraz tour about a week in advance. It gets busy. San Fran is a lovely city.

Then got a bus to L.A - we stayed in Venice Beach which was a short walk to Santa Monica pier, you keep walking and eventually get to Malibu. Hire bikes we then stayed in Hollywood and did the tour in a stretched limo. Cost fuck all.

Then San Diego - just beached it up there.

Then Las Vegas - Casino hotels are cheap as, especially in the week.

I was backpacking and to be fair one of the only countries we had to book hostels in advance was USA

Yeah i think thats basically what we want to do. What is a rough price for a motel over there? We might book hotel for vagas but motels the rest.

Wink

Davy, The best place for you to visit is a driving school....

But then again you usually do drive on the wrong side of the road.

Keeping well Davy, but I'm in dire need of another RS....although Ryan is pushing me to get a new Focus. Can't afford one with the money he owes me for his last escos and focus RS. Anyway the focus ST kicks a lot of ass on the road.
