We do if it's a buying guide, or feature all about that particular model of car. But when it comes to actual 'feature cars' we're a tuning magazine so we primarily feature tuned cars!
If you like the bufty side of things however, then you'll like an issue we've got coming up soon!!!

RS FOC Focus, Great car mate but for fucks sake sort it out and then that Fiesta with an Evo engine again great car but have a fucking work what a really waste of money, surely you guys have mobile phones and features backed up ready to go, l find it hard to beleive that you live hand to mouth with feature cars
Really gets on my fucking tits what an utter waste

Sorry i forgot the press office only recieves good stuff so they couldn't actually give a bad review! funny that some of these mags running for 15 maybe 20 years and they never ever had any shite stuff come through they door!
i really need to start buying stuff these mags write up about! it must be good as they recieved it for free! stupid me!

Wow, Im amazed just by how far you missed my point, you said that they get given free stuff in exchange for good reviews, and I was pointing out that if they give good reviews about bad stuff, that would just end up with them being given freebies they didnt want!

You would think so after these last editions, to be honest i think that is possibly me done buying either, i own a Porsche for fucks sake it was purely down to a passion for old Fords that kept me buying either but this is crazy

For the record - We had shot both cars before PF, and with the Focus we told them that we'd done so, but they chose to run with it anyway. We suspected the same with the Fiesta, but when we shot it PF hadn't even been in touch with him. PF later asked him and he told them we'd shot it, but again they chose to run with it.
We do have contact with PF when this issue arises, and up until now our 'agreement' has worked ok.
We don't live 'hand-to-mouth' but when you're in direct competition with another magazine shooting a car and holding onto it can be dangerous, as your competitor can sneak it in and shoot it, meaning you've got a wasted shoot and a big bill.

Dan PF has just come into the shops around me,
If what you say is true and l have no reason to not beleive it then l wont be buying fucking Performance Ford again, that is taking the piss. Why would they do that?

I prefer ff, as I feel that they feature the everday cars, like mine
It is my everyday car and it has dirt and oil under the bonnet shocker! I must admit I did polish the granny out of it the week before the feature though.
When I spoke to pf about a feature a while ago they didn't seem interested. I get the impression that if it ain't a cossie then it won't get in.

After reading the 2 of them a few things have become obvious, call me padantic but
Fast Ford have the Uppers and Downers (pg 33) section now Performance Ford have Planet PF (pg 15) Hot and Not pretty much the same bloody thing
The Products section looks like a dam near spot on copy, you pretty much could be mistaken for not knowing which mag you were reading,
Even on the car details the format looks very similar
They also now have a retrospective section in with the old rs end, call me crazy but this is very similar to the back cover they run on FF
The technical articles do not even come in to it, Stus articles and the format is far better then PF
Not cool, looks like they need to go back to the drawing board at PF
Anyway rant over i'm of to red Decanter and look at wine reviews lol

At the time of arranging the photoshoots, which was several weeks prior, neither mag had photographed the cars. We always ask whether a car has been or is scheduled for FF. As it turns out FF did shoot the cars before us, but only by a matter of days and neither of the owners made it clear at the time that this had happened so we did so in good faith, as I'm sure did FF.
We became aware later on that the Focus had been shot a couple of days before by FF and after discussing the matter with FF, discussing the matter with the owner (for the record, once we'd explained the situation of having the car in both mags he told us in no uncertain terms that he wanted his car in PF) and taking the costs into account, decided to run with it.
We didn't know about the Fiesta until later and when we found out it was just too late to do anything about it. It was a mix up and we'll do our best not to let it happen again.
As I said before:
Regarding the doubling up of features in the current issues of PF and FF, this was more to do with the owners, rather than any deliberate attempt by either party to scupper the other mag. It's disappointing and annoying for those that buy both, which is why we always make a point of asking the owner of a feature car before a photoshoot, but sometimes cars slip through the net. All I can say is we'll re-double efforts to prevent it in the future.
Cheers, Luke

Peter Taddei (Fiesta Owner) "Fast Ford were the first magazine to shoot the car. After which I was contacted by Performance Ford who asked if they could feature it. Performance Ford never asked if anyone else had shown any interest or been out to shoot the car. At a later date I was contacted regarding the Performance Ford shoot and asked directly if Fast Ford shot the car. I made no effort to deceive or hide it from anyone and made it perfectly clear that Fast Ford had done a shoot."

Trouble is though, people have to build interesting enough ones to get in there.
If its anything like TV then I would imagine getting a fiesta featured is easier than getting a cossie featured.
With Total Vauxhall if you have something like a Calibra which not many people do up, it makes it easier to get featured than if you have a corsa, assuming both are done to the same standard.
Luca off her for example, I would imagine has had BOTH mags knocking at his door for his car to feature!

Let's just make sure we're both more on the ball, to avoid pissing people off in the future.

Haven't seen this month's pf but probably will tonight if my brother has finished reading his copy lol
I know what you mean Chip, there are a lot more top class cossies than there are Fezza's. If it were my mag though I'd have Fiesta's from cover to cover. Do you think it would sell many copies?

with titles like "performance" and "fast" you can't really put a cooking motor in there that just clean and get away with it can you
but it's not like you can just drop a bigger lump in and be done with it as the cossie is the motor of choice for rwd and the zetec or equivalent is for the fwd boys to play with
no one bothers with the newer motors really even though i think that's where the easiest benifits in regards to bolt on performance mods are going to be found because if you do it then everyone else has done it, and there is a definiate lack of originality going on with the newer cars, everything bar the focus st, the modern day cossie
this arguement will probably run for ever and ever, but until pf start to up their game and are seen to be a worthy rival to ff like they were in the past, they might as well start sticking vectras in to make it different
on another note, woh's going to be the first to get a mk4 mondeo in?

Nice cover car, keep in touch with the Ford scene. Dunno, no real specific reason. Usually only got it of there was a Focus featured, so I could get ideas for mine. Got the last one with the free stickers . Trying to get the current one for the Focus ST vs RS article. Think ive only bought PF once, prefer FF.
