2.0 Silvertop and Blacktop aren't much different (blacktop a few brake more).

ST170 is the most powerful NA variant by far.

silvertop and blacktop are roughly 130, think silvertop has more torque ? , st170 has 160hp or something.Silvertop will be easier than the black top to put in your xr3i

Silver top would be the best option IMO ... From an early Mondeo .. Pre 97 .. If your gonna fit an ST170 engine then you need to use custom D-shaft's etc.

2.0 into a MK6 escort's trickly straight forward ... Not sure about an XR3i sorry ..

Thought they are both 130BHP or 136Ps ...

Newer Mondeo 2.0's are 140BHP but it's probably a different engine?

No need if you use a regular Escort box.

My Estate's going to be getting an ST170 soon, and it'll be running throttle bodies too. Should be 190BHP, maybe 200BHP. Pretty good from bolt on parts!

Ah ... So you can use the 75 or ib box? Thought you had to use the 6 cog jobby?

Guide (Pic happy) would be nice ... Loads of people would like to do this conversion.

ST170 is 170 hence ST170, this would be a harder conversion as it uses VVT.

Newer Duratec HE is 140 but as said it's different engine compared to Zetec.

Told there's quite an easy way to use it. Will document it when it happens in my car.

No reason why an RST BC box couldn't be used. That's what mine will be using, hopefully a standard one is strong enough!
Will possibly be doing the upgrade as a Fast Ford guide too
