Default Problem getting starter motor....

Mmm......

Ford say they need all the numbers off mine to identify itas there are 7 different types

theres not there's only 2.

My local motor factors say £97 to recon my unit and it's a 2 day turn around.

Can't get a price on a Bosch one and 2nd hand unit is out of the question.

Anyone on here know where I can buy outright a 'good quality' starter motor for a Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 1991?

Thanks,

Ask the dealer if finis 6565323 is available. That is the number for a 1990-1995 4wd starter.

Looks like I'll be getting mine reconditioned. I have been quoted £90 is this not a bit expensive?

I got mine rebuilt at cleveland auto electrics in middlesbrough for about 50 quid a few years ago

but as pete says why not a working second hand one from him or paul?
if you bought a second hand car you wouldn't change the starter because it isn't new would you!
It's not like there hard to fit either if it does go wrong again..

i had this problem a while ago, bought the new bosch one and it was wrong even though it was the one listed for my car (91 4x4 cos) by 3 different sources, tried having mine rebuilt by a major reconditioner of starters, alternators etc and they could not get the correct parts as no longer available so got a breakers one for a tenner and off we go!
happy days

I would suggest that you try another Ford dealer for your parts from now on....

I checked with Fords' online ordering system (Rapid) today and the finis 6565323 is showing as available. There are currently 5 available @ the Daventry warehouse @ this time.

I could order one tomorrow and have it delivered to my local dealer for Saturday morning, therefore, so could your dealer.

Price on Rapid is £130+vat retail with a £30 surcharge (refundable), may have trouble getting a trade price for you today, but I would expect normally 10% discount from any dealer without an account.
