HEard they are not that good cars as 200SX's. Expensive maitenance and not so much more car for a lot of more money put into it. And as far as I heard they don't handle that well either.

they are great cars, very good value for money with modern comfort if you go for the S14a model. the S13 is a 1.8 turbo, the S14/14a is a 2.0 turbo.
They are quite easy to tune, mine is running 290BHP/280Lbft on stock ECU and injectors. They have a hopeless intercooler but you can change this for a front mount for under £500. You'll have plenty of sideways fun.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I was going to buy a rwd cossie after I sold my old rst but in the end chose a S13 200sx. Wicked cars and as said hang so so well Put out 270bhp@1 bar at SCA with just front mount, chip and the usual zorst and filter. And its only a 1.8
S14a's and S15's look the best imo. Have a look on sxoc.com.

I've got a 94 200sx that we use for track days and its been great.
As standard they are very very average but once the suspension has been improved they are quite good fun.
Definitely not as tuenable as a Cosworth, if you want big bhp it'll cost a lot and then you'll have to modify lots of other things as the standard car is not designed to cope.
The S13 models (1.8) suffer badly with worn bottom ends and rust and have sloppy suspension and poor brakes. The S14 is the one to go for if you can.
The best thing about them is jap reliability.
Our one has been mildly tuned, has very little lag, big brakes, lowered stiffened suspension, decat exhaust, Yokohama A048 tyres, harnesses etc and is very very good on the track. Eg at Bedford and Donnington was quicker than a lot of very quick cars. Surprisingly neutral for a rwd car as well.[img][/img]

Driven a couple of s13s. Why people bother with RSTs when you can get them so cheap these days is beyond me. If I had driven one before I had mine I would never have bought the RST

Gary's S13 (1.8) was 450 @ the wheels. It did 172mph at TOTB2. We do loads of these and are very well known within the SXOC. We have recently built and mapped Bren's S13, which has just made 400+bhp on his 'Tiny' injectors and are due to remap it soon for the 900cc jobbies.
If you want a 200 for not alot of money, we have a 1992 J Reg S13 which we have just tidied up. We have fitted new Big Ends, Cut the valves in, fitted new Head Gasket and Cam Belt, Converted it to T28, Remapped it and fitted a Bigger Intercooler. We will also probably fit 17" Wheels and lower it a bit.
I agree that the S14a/S15 are the nicer ones, but then you have to pay more for them. Decent S14a's really start at £5000 plus.
Also, from a tuning point of view, we do a Fast Road engine for the S14/S14a, which is around £3200 fitted. This would be fully rebuilt, with all new bearings/gaskets/seals, Wiseco Forged Pistons, Metal Head Gasket etc. With the right choice of bits, this engine could be safely tuned to 350bhp once you have added a GT28 and a Fuel Controller of some kind for reasonable money.
Take a look at our Trade section on SXOC for more info!!

Having said that, one word of warning.......
Anyone that goes from FWD to powerful RWD needs to treat it with respect. I guarantee that if you don't, then it will end up in a hedge. We have all seen it happen when going from RST to Cossie, the same applies when buying a 200SX.

Bought my S13 in July, and still love driving it even at standard power (170bhp). Have done around 5500 miles in it, and its been very reliable for me.
They are a LOT of fun, really slidable and I think are brilliant for learning RWD (if you are sensible about it of course)!!

S13s are nice car dead cheap for what you get, but not a patch on a S14a (S14s aew nice, just when you sit them next to the S14a they look too plain), id have a S14a over a Saff anyday, and i really like saffs.
Ive driven lots of S13s and S14s, esp modded S14a's as lots of mates have em.
Best value for money car there is in that price range.
S14a is the one to get IMO, Fast, and with some basic mods, VERY fast, spot on brakes, and fookin awesome handling (All SXs seem to handle amazing, but from my experience S14a's turn you into a RWD driving god from nothing, serious, you can hang em sideways like an idiot far better than any other car ive driven before, and a mate of mine went from a shinky Primera straight to one and was broadside everywhere with ease straight away )
S14a's look quality too, try n get the touring with black leather n nicer side skirts too, pretty common, evil headlights n spot on bodykit as std, jus change the wank std rims n get rid of any orange bits of indicators (if its a black one, best colour, just get the tint spray out, job done) and they look mint. 19s go on with no arch mods too if u fancy it.
Main thing is FULL turbo back zorst and a decent front mount intercooler and its a LOT faster and freer revving, as both the std items are piss poor. Then cone filter and 1bar boost and you get at least 270bhp (no chip) and belive me, its fast, faster than a stg1 cossie and so much better looking n handling n stopping.
I love em.
S15s are the bollocks but the chances of your getting one is dead slim as they rare as and expensive compared to 13/14.
300ZXs are tho.

So I'm looking into some turbo charged ricers. Choices are down to a 14a 200SX, MR2 Turbo or a 300ZX twin turbo. All of which I could get for about £4k.
Really tempted to get the 300ZX thou as its V6 but been hearing that they suffer from reliabilaty problems.
Though this would be the best place to be to get a (while maybe slightly biased view) a vew from people that have them.
Fire away convince me to get one

At the price they are now going for you will get a lot of car for your money. I have two (one is bent got it for the engine to do a big turbo job) and paid less than £3000 for them both.
