Default ST170 gearbox on a CVH block?????

Has anyone seen or fitted an ST170 6 speed box to a CVH block, if so are there any issues mainly the starter motor position as looking at pics of the ST170 blcok the filter is on the drivers side end of the block. If anyone had any pics of the back of an St170 engine and box i could have a look at it would be very helpful.
Reason for asking is that i'm debating fitting one in my new Mk2 Fiesta Turbo track car.

Any help appreciated

Ginger

Anything is possible - but you'll need a hefty budget to do this one

I belive Christian looked into this with Simon @ Sitech but called it a day due to the potential expense involved.

Basically the ST170 engine has mounting lugs on the back to carry the intermediate shaft so as to provide relatively equal length driveshafts. The CVH doesn't have these and as such would need some clever machining of a sizeable, thick plate to bolt onto the back of the block and carry the lugs.

Then you get into all the other dramas of starter motors, flywheels, clutches (which are a very different spline pattern on the MT285 ST170 box) etc.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's why i don't think anyone has done it yet

If people can put drilled out CVH flywheels onto a zetec, then there's probably a good chance you can do it the other way round too..
