yesterday was the first time I gat to drive the car, since it was broken ito last week, where they disconnected alsorts of stuff, re-connected everything,

but

now when driving, idle seems to be all over the palce and also when it starts to come on boost, it almost tries to stall and shoots flames out of the exhaust.

any ideas?

Long shot, but have you checked the multiplugs at the back of the bay as plugged in correctly? Try contact cleaning them too. I have a bad connection in them and it cause the same fault as yours does when on boost. My idle was fine though:S
