heart breaking decision on s2 what shall i do
right then this is the story on a s2 black rs turbo i have in my lock up and how i got it..
4 year ago a member on another site asked me to do some work on his rs for him but the roof is so rotton i had to say sorry its just to much for me to too, anyway it was there for around 2 years he never really contacted me or did i contact him it wasnt in my way in my workshop...
now the main story of this the owner of the car contacted me around 2 years latter and said his wife had a baby but the news isnt good he was born with a hole in his heart and will need alot of care so he asked me if i wanted to buy his car of him as he couldnt get it back from wales so i done a deal with him and bought it...
now then i didnt have a clue what to do with it and i really dont want to break it because the last owner was well upset due to the fact he had t sell it...
the car itself isnt in bad nick but the roof is so rotton i dont know if its worth the hassle id love to fix it and take it back to him and say remember your old s2 well here it is
now do i break or repair it bear in mind i already need to finish my other s2 and also make a start on my cosworth and its taken room now
here is the pics of it
work that it needs doing to it
roof
rear lower outer and inner panel
floor on rear footwell and front footwells
scuttle panel
front panel
battery try
sills look solid to me
the floor inside needs some welding doing
the roof problem
under side
rear lower outer panel
pics of panels but it does have overspray on it
after a polish it does have god paint work but will need the whole thing doing if it gets done
front panel

Get the welder out, anything can be fixed with a welder and some tie raps. if you brake it you will only die inside in about 6 months when you realise what you did.

That looks like its had a roof before, is that a weld I can see accross the top of the a pillar? It might be the reason its soo rottern. I have never seen one that bad especially where its rusted through the by the tailgate hinges.
Other than that the shell can be fixed- go on save another! They are not worth much now but they are dwindling numbers fast! 10-15 years ago Mk1 and 2 escorts wernt worth a shit either!

dont agree with what pete say's he breaks them he will say that, there is many mark rot box's out there with sod all left on half of them but yet thay still build them up using new panels
as said what is it worth £3000-£3500 when its done...if done tidy
ive worked out around £600 it will cost me to do as i can do the work myself

Sell it to someone who understands the situation, im sure if it went to a good home the previous owner would be just as happy, well perhaps happier that it was gonna be someones pride and joy rather than just a project for the sake of it?

alex i have a very very good shell but will be done from ground up at a latter date
olie it will never be an rs turbo unless it states on log book
i also have a mint mark 4 xr3i that will be going on here soon for sale it has the trim taken out but you will never find one as good as it, worst part is one wheel arch apart from that no welding has ever been done on it
here is the grey one

Sorry mate, i'd defo break it, I know it's maybe got some sentimental value but lets face it, it's YOU thats going to have to pay to fix it and it's YOUR problem now,no one else will help you. if you've already got 2 other cars to do, it's not exactly gonna happen overnight and gonna get even worse in the meantime. You can pick these cars up for peanuts nowadays, i got ofeered 2 complete S2's last week for £650 and one was an H plate.

Yeah I was tempted, but I really wanted only 1 from the guy buy he said it was all or nothing basically, and I don't have thre room, also had the engine taken out of it and was in the boot Guess it wasn't meant to be, i think they're sold now. p.s if your REALLY wanting to restore it, i'd just reshell the bugger, much easier and more of a thourough job!
