anyway what is with all this breaking crack that everyone keeps going on about its the same old thing everytime and its bullshit, every cos or rs that gets broken helps to keep another car on the road.....
does it really, more like how many good solid example shells get scrapped just to keep the rest of the sheads on the road, there is alot of rotton rs models on the roads now i bet there has been better one's broke up and crushed for scrap...
if i remember there was 2 40,000 mile cos on here for breaking, same goes for the rs500 yea it will keep another going but there is sod all of these rs 500s left now in the end there will be shit loads of rs 500 parts for just a few genuine one's..
oh sorry its all about money isnt it

At this stage it had cost about 20k (Not including the original purchase price when I bought it at 18 months old - Norris Motorsport 450bhp Engine, Quaife Box, Quaife Diff, AP Brakes, Suspension, Pro-Alloy - Intercooler - Pre Cooler - Rad - Fans, Bailey Tanks, Breather Systems, Special Magnex Exhaust System, Then Budweis had the rose jointed rear beam fitted, and Autronic Management System............. All in a concourse shell with NO rust at all, as she was fully waxoil injected when I first purchased her. Probably one of the most complete sapphires out there, and well within the top ten sapphire left............... And it was broken.
Thanks to James she's about to re-emerge even better. Good Luck with the Re-Assembly. If I'd know that she would have been broken within a year of me selling her. There's no way in the world I'd have sold her in the first place. I didn't need the money at the time, but when I found out she was being broken up to sell as parts, I didn't have the money to buy her back, which I desperately tried to raise but at the time couldn't.
Is Nothing Sacred ! ! !
And people wonder why there's no decent ones left............. Because they were broken for their modified parts, and the fact that they were a totally mint car seemed to be forgotten.
When there's no good ones left, maybe people will realize what they once had. Another few years and people will be asking big money (And Getting It) for the really mint ones.
I don't blame the people that broke them........... They bought the cars, and it's down to them what they do with them. Just a shame that some good ones have been lost.

I always go out and say wow look at the bmw,evo ect. NOT. They are like clitoris's every cunt's got one. The amount of look's you get in a sapphire or any cosworth is worth every penny to keep them on the road. The sapphire was the only cosworth i ever wanted and i would not swap mine for anything. Each to there own but saying a 3 door is better than a escort ect is childish. We own cosworth's so should share the same passion for all cosworth's . Moan over lol

Cossies will go the same way as the mk1 mk2 escorts, thousands of escorts got scrapped now the old escorts are in demand big time, hence prices, and people are restoring cars which most people wouldnt even bother because they are so rotton,i bet in 10 years time people will be saying i wish i never scrapped that saff shell when they see how much they will be going for

i hear what your saying but i aint so sure with the sapp cossie, they were mass produced to a certain extent 12k 2wd and 12.5k 4x4 (although not sure how many rhd)out of that number would imagine 9k2wd and 9.5k 4x4?problem with the sapp it has not the rally/racing backup like the 3door/rs500 and escos!this imo is the main reason with the number they were produced is that the sapp is the (lesser)cossie

It "will" go the way of the Mk1 & Mk2 Escort, and in ten years time people will be searching for anything thats restorable and has most of the original parts still on it.
You've only got to look at www.turbosport.co.uk (Restorations) to see the extremes people go too, to restore what most people would have sent to the crusher....... Because there's not enough left. Back in the eighties, I had a scrappy pick up my 2dr MK2 Escort because it failed it's MOT on rotten sills, rear spring hangers, and strut tops corroded. The car was very straight with no dents, and I scrapped it. Now, the same car would have sold for well over 1k to the boys who restore them. At the time, the scrappy gave me £60 for it, coz I had a receipt for a recon box fitted six months prior.
No one knows the score on the MK1/Mk2 Escorts better than "RETRO AL". And I'm sure he's right about the Sapphires.
