Anyone own an RST powered westfield?
As title, as my turbo got wrote off and still waiting for the payout, was pondering about the idea of throwing the lump in a westy or somethin simular as i cant be arsed to build another Escort, getting too old for this shit!
Thinking that a nice revvy 250bhp 1.6CVH in something half the weight might be a bit of fun!
Thoughts on a post card please!

Do it - don't even think about it. If you've got the time, patience and can live with only using the car on sunny days you really should build a Westy.

The westfield SE (Narrow) was the first westfield kit to take the CVH however this car is no longer available in kit form but if you call Westfield's, they can still supply bits for it including a complete body panel kit.
The SEW is basically the same as the SE with same Engine packages, steering, rear suspension etc. The only difference was it had a wide body. This could accommodate larger customers or people who wanted just that bit more room. This is still available today.
The Seiw was basically the same as the Sew but with independent rear suspension. Early Seiw had Escort english Diff in a westfield cast alloy box with custom half shafts. Later models had Diff/halveshafts are from a Ford Sierra. Both had twin swinging arms front and back. Rear Brakes were fitted from an Escort Mk3.

Do it!
I built one about 12 years back.. was superb fun!
Independant rears are a must- mine had an Escort axle and it was a bit of a pain in the arse lifting and lighting up the inside rear wheel out of corners...
from memory the RSTinlet manifold was a little tall to fit under the bonnet so I ended up shaving a bit off the sump and also cutting down the inlet manifold runners so the manifold wasnt quit as tall....also modded the brackets on the cross over pipe so it sat a bit closer to the rocker cover..
It was really quite a straight forward conversion..
