take out the starter motor and lock the flywheel with a screwdriver/prybar. then you'll be able to undo the bottom pulley bolt easier.

One of these

Probably a bit overkill to be honest, what is it you are actually doing seeing as you have the head off?

lock the crank with a screwdriver, put a spanner or a t-bar on the pulley bolt and hit it with a hammer, when you shock things they undo loads easier

buy a proper flywheel locking tool then, bolts in place of your starter motor

get someone else to hold it, and a decent sized pry-bar is better than a screw driver, where theres a will theres a way haha, dont let it bear you, i cut a wishbone off a golf today with a 9 inch grinder because the captive nut spun, theres allways a way

you can put the pistons at TDC(ish) when the head is on by putting a screwdriver down the plug hole and feeling for when its at the top
