Yeah i agree lights make a big difference but not in the daylight. If the car driver had bothered to look properly they wouldve seen the bike regardless of what colour paint it was covered in.
Would you accept that excuse if someone done the same thing to you while you were driving a black car?
i take it everyones seen the advert on tv where a car driver pulls out from a T-junction infront of a motorbike, im o this is another example of that kind of situation, where the car driver simply didnt look properly.
if you havent seen it watch it here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX5aDLqQen8

I allways had my lights on , even on the brightest of days ! its all about high visability and blindspots. A bike with no lights can simply dissapear into a blind spot , whereas if you have lights on the dazzle from them behind the blind spot gives you a better chance of being seen .
not a dig by the way cutch it sounds more like the driver was in his own fucking world in your case ! people rarely saw my lights as they were normally pointing at the moon , lol . hope the payout goes well bud

One thing i was glad my bike does its self, lights are on all the time.
Still its no excuse to get hit, i just think that even if you blind people with them at times at least they are aware of you being there

Sorry mate i done agree, i usually have my lights on all the time no matter what, but obviously this one has a daytime mot and a race fairing so needless to say i was lucky. Bikes are a lot smaller than a car and usually moving quicker! Think i will be putting some lights on anyway....

Thats rubbish. You can easily see a bike in a mirror, lights off, if you bother to take a proper look in accordance with the highway code.
The driver should have seen him in mirror before indicating right (thats if he wasnt already aware of the bike following him in rear view mirror) and again when he checked his mirror AND glanced over his shoulder before pulling right.
The focus was in the wrong from the start. For a U turn he shouldnt have indicated left at all unless he was physically going to stop and wait for cars to pass.
Its poor observation, nothing less, nothing more. If a bike behind you dissapears from view, you should be looking round you loads like "maverick looking for that MIG on his 6", until you are sure your clear.

1. i didnt see him because he was riding a black bike and black is hard to see
2. i didnt see him because bikes are a lot smaller than a car
3. i didnt see him because he didnt have his lights on in the daytime/daylight
4. he wasnt speeding but i still didnt see him
Personally i'd be fuckin livid if someone knocked me off my bike and then tried to claim they didnt see me in the middle of the day because i didnt have lights on!!

sorry to hear that buddy, me and my mate at work helped a guy who came off his bike on the a64 i think in hull we were the only people to stop and i think it is lousy that people can just drive by an accident and not do anything especially when its a bike

I don't normally advocate these things, but have a word with Stu@claimscare centre on here, seems to get things done very quickly, and is free IIRC as you are the claiming party.

4 months is taking the piss mate.
do you have a hire vehicle at the mo?
as i think that helps speed up a payout, when i got hit off mine i think i was paid out for the bike within a month, as the beastly nissan micra i had was costing around Ł400 a week i think.
i did have the option of a hire bike, but chose 4 wheels instead
it still took about a year for the payout to come through tho.

Got a hire bike, thats def not a tuned gsxr1000 !!!! Do not want it, want my own bike. Last time this happened to me i was paid out within 3 weeks and got the rest within a couple of months. Dont know whats taking so long with this, presume its because he was driving his mother in laws car etc. But it still shouldnt take this long for someone to say "we have liability" have pay me. Credit crunch is hitting and i need the money. I cant even sell the bike thats damaged!

I am going to send a letter to my local paper and see if they will print it, asking if the guy in the black van with silver sign writing that stopped to ask if i was ok can get in contact with me. It happened on the 13th march though! I know the guy works local and you never know he might have seen everything, have already tried to find him but no luck was the wrong guy.

An assessor that came to look at it (i know him) said it was a right off, ding in the frame etc, forks with uprated internals.......I think the problem is they dont know if they are liable, so thats whats taking so long, surely if he was insured 3rd party on his in laws car (fully comp on his) its a clear cut case....

wounder.
but if he was insured and there is no doubt that it was the 3rd partys fault, then it should have been done and dusted by now.
i had a similar crash, woman waiting in que of traffic made an illegal right turn into a no right turn junction as i was going past.
her insurance wanted to go 50/50, i told them to fuck right off!
