Default Had my bike 5 hrs and someone u turned in front of me! WITH PICS

Cant fkn belive it, my cousin went to devon for me to pick up my new bike for me a k3 gsxr 1000 in fact here it is.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=170310332733

Arrived yesterday after he drove all day and night to get it (i am in glasgow) at about 8:30

Great got it out had a look at it cheked it over....woohoo, tuned gixxer!!!! Took the missus to work at 11 came home cos it was nice and dry to have a wee "test", took the bike up to my mates garage to inspect it over. Starts to rain very lighty, decide to get it up the road, on the way home someone decide to do a u turn right in front of me!!

He was the car traveling in front of me at under 30 and wanted to turn right, missed his turn and indicated left pulled over to the left hand side of the lane (the roads a busy main road with cycle lanes) as soon as his car was over to the left and i thought he was parking or waiting at least, his right indicator flashed once and woosh, right out in front of me! No where to go, grabed the brakes managed to get a few mph off but the front locked and i went down. Bikes pretty fkd, his focus (that he says is his mother in laws) has a great big gash in the drivers sill. Theres a ding in my frame from the right hand side grip/throttle etc so that means they will right it off automatically! Cant bloody beleive it. He gave me his details and from the 15 cars behind me only on guy in a van stopped and asked if i was alright! Some people, he left, cops turned up took statements, and left me in the rain with my broken bike! Neck and arm starting getting sore after a couple of hours but wasnt too bad, missus made me go to the doc and they sent me to hospital cos i was getting a sore head etc, they checked me out and i seem to be fine, bit of whip lash etc but all ok.

I know everyone going to say as long as your ok, but its a joke 5 hrs old! cannot believe it, i just hope that he was insured cos my bikes a right off.

Front fork that went into his sill (making a real bad noise when moving now)

Tank with dent, notice the ding in frame where the bars hit it, bottom right of pic

Acrapovic full system, rear sets, and swing arm all scratched etc.

R+g protectors, fairing, etc,

a whole lot more in other places but this is a far as i could be bothered to show, Totally gutted....

It is fixable, but the price of new bike parts is just ridiculous so it'll probably be written off, particularly because of the dent in the frame, because if it goes through insurance they have to quote it on replacement with brand new parts. I've repaired a couple and I really couldn't believe the price of parts, they bear no resemblance to what they cost to make, it's all supply and demand because so many bikes do get damaged.
There's no wonder there's such a market for second hand mint bike parts.

Yeah, couple of people have mentioned it might be the big guy letting me know something!

Yip i am insured, so i dont have any worries, if he wasnt i will be going up and taking his car etc untill i ge tmy moneys worth.

Its an automatic right off if the frame has been damaged, the cost of this rrepair is going to be astronomical due to all the goodies that are on the bike. I will be buying it back from the company though,

You still have abona fida claim even if he wasn't insured, you can still claim.
My advice as been there and done that 7-9 times now is don't use your insurer/solicitors for this, go to a no win no fee person.
At the end of the day "last man standing" rule applies anyway.
As said glad you're ok, if they want to write it off then you are quids in, just buy back at 10% market value it will be yours to keep and repair, it's very little damage to be honest, not saying cheap just not much.

Similar thing happened to my son a few years ago.

5 week old bike, unexpected U turn by a car.
Fairing smashed to pieces, headlamp smashed, forks bent, ding in tank, scrape on frame.

Car driver got done for Carrying out a dangerous manoeuvre.

Son used No win no fee, as he was third party on his bike.

Got paid out full value of replacement new bike, new leathers, helmet, gloves, pain and distress, bike recovery and storage fees plus the No win guy's fees.

Then he bought back the salvage, had the forks straightened, new headlamp and sold it without a fairing.

Came out of it quite well financially,

.

there's definitely something to be said for combined brakes and ABS though - get yourself a new cbr600rr with them from your insurance claim

Sorry to hear the news, you must be devastated! Made to feel even worse due to the fact that the bike was so new to you

Hopefully everything will be sorted very soon so you can be out biking again

Not everyones a bad guy who drives around with no insurance so the car genuinely could be his mother in law etc fingers crossed!

Na, i will go down the no win no fee route, did it last time, and managed to keep the bike, got full payment for it and some cash for hurting my leg.

This one should be a lot more this time, as he has managed to do my neck in again (old injury) done the bike, helmet and my one peice leathers.

Hoping for a BIG payout (if hes insured that is)

Lights is a 50/50 issue IMHO, I do ride with mine on, but be aware that even small bumps can make it look like you are flashing your lights, and people will pull out on you for that reason!! Dozy cunt should have looked twice, regardless of lights on or not, how many times do you spot someone second look just before you do something! Quite a few times a second look is the thing that stops an accident
