Default New Tv - 1080p 100Hz ?!?!?!?!?!

Im in the market for a new tv. My current plasma is an lg 42". Ive had it about 4 years now and it has worked well, however it has no hdmi sockets and only 1 component input and only shows up to 1080i so thought id get another one. However i thought i could just get a 1080p tv but it looks like there are things like 100hz etc to work out!!!

I dont really wanna go any larger but dont wanna go any smaller. The tv is used for ps3 (games and blu ray) and i got a xbox 360 and a wii and will prob get a HD box too for tv.
Money ranges up to about £800 quid but would prefer less.

With my current tv, words blur and movement blurs so would like nice crisp hd picture using the equipment i got. I will also be getting a new surround sound system to update the 5.1 ive already got.

What do u suggest?

you need a budget first
one for the telly
one for the surround amp
one for the speaker set up

for the telly, first measure the space you can put it in, if there is no limit then 50 inch is the way to go

for the surruond amp, lots of them now come with hdmi inputs as well as optical inputs for a lot of the items and a 7.1 system is well within reason if you can figure out where to put them all and how to hide the wires

as for speakers, the world is your oyster really, but you raelly will need an active sub, so make sure that the amp you buy is capable of running an active sub as mine won't fire a passive

Just a bit of advice for you - stay away from LG, I had a NIGHTMARE with them, currys and my old 42" LCD.

After a lot of advice on here, i got a Samsung 50" Plasma, and its excellent! Samsung make very very very good tellys
