Fiesta steering is heavy

My friends fiesa's steering has noticeably got alot heavier, (turning circle) but seems ok, I've his fluids and all seem to be ok, anyone got any idea what this could be or should I just get it on a ramp to look at?

the mk3 & 4 fiesta suffered with the uj at the bottom of the coloum seizing up, not expensive to replace unless its power steering.

mk2 (M reg) saphire.

He got it from an auction from an old grandma, no suprise after 30k the clutch went lol!
