Well i am now a member of Fitness First!
First of all i went to David Lloyd and it was £67 a month, £120 joining Fee and £45 admin fee. Ok it was nice and plush and they had a lovely swimming pool ( well actually 2!) but i couldnt justify £67 a month!
Then i went to Gym and Trim, and if i did the yearly package it was £35 a month, with £57 joining fee. It was a nice gym, very friendly, but i could imagine it getting very ver busy at peak times, and parking could be a problem!
Then i went to Fitness First £37 a month, and £30 joining fee ( which i get refunded after 4 weeks!) Again, they looked really friendly, and you get free tea/coffee/juice/water/fizzy free classes too... oh and the guys were hotter there too!

Fitness First is a good gym and will have plenty to offer you as I said in my previous posts. I'd probably be a member of mine if my local one weren't good enough. You can also get memberships to allow you to use any Fitness First not just your local one.

Try and find a gym where u pay daily or weekly, its more expensive if you go all the time, but most people only go for a couple of months then spend 10 regretting it.
I used to pay £6 a week. Basically you can go as many times as you want in 1 week. Or i think it was £3 per session if you only want to go 1s.
These work out much cheaper if your only going to go 1s per week, or better, go 3 times 1 week then have a week off.

I like fitness First. If you are a member of one you can use all the others.... so that keeps it interesting. Free classes is good... and the free DVD hire is pretty good as well!
I'm only a member of one gym company now! and its Fitness First. I like em
David Llyod are just tossers!!! I was a full member including rackets at the Basildon one for almost 3 years. I went TWICE!!!
I rang up to cancel and the fookers wanted 6 months notice!!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!

Always grab a DVD for first few weeks... it FORCES you back to the gym the next day to return it!
and then after a few weeks you will be addicted to going down there and wont need to hire them
Treat yourself to a few sessions at the start with a personal trainer as well. Worth every penny at the start...
And book into LOTS of classes as well. Spin classes are a great way to start. Like a little disco on a bike!

I'm a member of Fitness First on a corporate scheme (£18 a month), and use the one in Devonshire Square behind Liverpool Street.
The gym is a bit crap compared to my local Virgin Active, but it's cheap, and it means I can run after work and watch the football/cricket... suits me!

I get 4 sessions with a trainer when i start, to set out what i need to do, what to concentrate on, and to motivate me!
Sod the spinning, ive heard its can kill you!
i think mine was blue?! They only offered me Blue or Gold... the gold one was exactly the same as the blue one, but only a three month tie in rather than a 12 month tie in!
