Default Dreamscience/Customizable flash map

Afternoon all,

Who runs Dreamscience either forced induction or not? And in particular who has had it custom tuned to their engine? I am looking at sodding off my Bluefin for my focus 1.8 zetec that's just had Stage 2 Cams in and getting Dreamscience in the near future. The power my car now makes is pretty good, I'm really happy with it (145.2 HP and rises all the way to the redline) but the torque is slightly down. Makes 127ft.lbs from 5000rpm flat to the redline but I'm convinced I can get more out of it in terms of torque. It was producing 140ft.lbs before on a different set of rollers however. Even if you ignore the figures, the torque drop is definitely very noticeable but the relentless pull till 7000rpm is very much more appreciated instead of it dying off before. In fact, enough dribble from me, here is the graph:

Like I said, I'm convinced that the torque curve could be improved with some decent mapping on management like Dreamscience that will allow a lot more control over parameters rather than the Bluefin even though this has been altered by Superchips. People have even got better results running no sort of flash map at all just on the standard ECU. Dreamscience is looking the most likely candidate (DSF2000 or DSF3000). Also considering but not as much a Dastek Unichip or one of the MSD Evolution Chips as they can be mapped apparently but yet to find anyone that can do that in my area (North London). Would want to go back to TOTD too ideally to have the mapping done as they did the work on the car and RR'd it and have been pleased with their service.

So what are your thoughts guys? Cheers!

Decent and Dreamscience don't go together. An MSD Map will be far better than the Dreamscience. I've said it before, but my friends remapped TDCi 115ps Mondeo was faster than Bluefinned, and 130ps cars. Similair 115ps cars done by those companys stood no chance. If their map was as good as the MSD one, they should have pulled away, not been beaten. Not to mention, his fuel consumption was always 600+ miles to a tank, even when driven quickly. The others got that cruising. He got 700+ cruising.

Benni.

Is this the Evolution Chip map mate? And was it customized? I spoke to a local Evolution Chips dealer but he said it wasn't cost effective to offer the custom service and just the generic map. Dreamscience is fully customizable though (when I say fully I don't mean properly like standalone but you have more room to play with). A lot of the ST boys run Dreamscience and rate it. But forced induction tuning is a different ball game.

Nothing wrong with dreamscience for a off the shelf plug and play, ran one on my Focus ST2 with great results, obviously its a turbo application though.
Not sure what to make of your results though, but if your cars feels better, and is faster ,then its done its job surely?

Yes mate, the car is a lot quicker but I feel there is still much more to be gotten out of it with its new cams. Imagine your torque curve resembled mine above (I know it wouldn't but lets just imagine). The equivalent would feel like the turbo on your ST dropping 3 or 4 psi every time you see a dip in the torque curve above. Now I'm pretty convinced that not only can I hike that torque curve higher, but also iron out those dips with some custom mapping.

Sounds like you have some flat spots and so on, they can normally be cured with a map/flash/chip, so if you still have them now, then a custom map should sort it, just be sure to do as many engine mods as poss before the remap to get the most from it.

Also, where you from in North London mate, I'm in southgate and thought I saw your car the other day.

Southgate is pretty close by to me. I'm in Edmonton just shy of Palmers Green. Always fuel at the Shell on Green Lanes. Was in Southgate Friday night and yesterday went to fuel.

Sorry to jump into this thread. Im due to get my kent cams fitted in next few weeks on my 1.8 focus.

Just wondering what is the best option in regarding to mapping. Would it be something like a dreamscience/bluefin or a place near me (Rapid remap) do a custom map or would you recomend something else?

Im a bit of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff so any help appreciated

Also just to add if resetting either a dreamscience or bluefin is it cheaper if the original owner resets this or if i do this (its just my brother and cousin are sellin these units)

Thanks

Matt
