Lovely motor mate.
I had a mk2 16v a while back , was totally std but it was alot quicker than i thought it would be. Gave my mates VR6 a run for its money. Also handled really well aswell.
Blew the heater matrix on mine first day i got it though. Apparently there was a common fault that mine hadnt had fixed, probably didnt help i was messing about lighting up the tyres through first and second gear .
mine did look like this
then like this lol
Top motors.

Its the south west circuit apparently, I would have liked to be doing the full gt circuit but i think realisticly being its my 1st outing on track in the Golf that this will be enough of a challenge as i need to learn the cars characteristics and any weak points as well as the track layout.... Should be good fun though .......

Hi,
I wasn't a member of the forum and stumbled across this whilst searching for golf bits, I couldn't help reading the whole thread because it all looked very familiar.
I'm guessing you bought the car from a guy named Paul in high wycombe right?
I know this because I bought the 'sister' car from the same bloke! When I went to see mine he mentioned that he had a similar monza blue 16v car for sale, but being naive about golfs at the time I went for the 8v. feel like I should have had a look at the 16v now!
Mines virtually identical in spec, right down to the wheels, only difference being mines a black 8v!
Mines now a track car as well and has undergone some changes, noticably the grill, this is the car at llandow last year...
small world eh!
cheers

No not the same chap , this guy is Paul plumridge... If you look at my engine bay shot you can see some of his fabrication work e.g strut brace , header tank , pas tank , breather tank etc (mec 82) cars has pretty much the same bits...
Once pauls finished his charged vr ill see if hes ok with me taking a few snaps as im sure you would be intrested to have a look.......

Yes I've seen it, it's stunning I've known him for years right back to when he had his V8 capri, that was a lovely car.
I think he's rebuilt most of the cossies in the area

yeah I'm in high wycombe so the car hasn't gone far!
His 3-door cossie looked very nice, he had a few nice bits to go on when I was there like some monster AP brakes.
his fabrication work is really good, the strut braces and catch tanks on mine are great.
