Default SVA Test

I discovered quite recently that the last date to apply for this is 28 Feb, and the last date for the test itself is 28/4.

My car hasn't come back from painting yet, and he says it will be another two weeks (but he says that every 2 weeks!)

Popped into the LVLO today to get the gen on the Individual Type Approval replacement for the SVA and they have no info at all - in fact, they didn't even know SVA applications closed on Friday!

Their best advice was to apply for the test and request a date at the end of April. present the car, whether it is ready or not, and if it doesn't pass I have 6 months (up to 28/10) to get it completed and passed before the door closes.

However, the application has to be in Swansea on Friday so I've spent ages this evening filing in the forms and copying loads of receipts, and printing photos of the build.

Wish me luck or my £190 could be wasted cash!

If it doesn't pass the SVA before the test is done away with, I'll need to go for Individual Type Approval, but with no info on what is involved in this new test or the cost of it, I'm gambling £190 on getting my car finished in time to use the SVA route to getting it registered.

Thats standard DVLA practice, cozzfather!!!

And it will not actually stop the dangerous cars hitting the roads but just inconvenience the genuine people.

There's plenty of info on I.V.A.
It's hardly any different to SVA, but you've done the safest thing.

there's not any huge changes to the test apart from the price which is supposed to be going up to £500+.

Got my date through today - 27 April at 8am in Bishopbriggs. I can legally drive the car there and back without a tax disc or even number plates so long as it is insured! I'm kind of leaning towards a short-term policy until I know it has passed and can be registered - does anyone do those for modified cars?

Meantime I need to get it back from paint, get my finger out and refit everything then get it across to the garage for a final check and maybe even an MOT, even though I don't technically need one.

The 27th of April is my 24th wedding anniversary, so it's either an omen or another excuse for a moan from she who must be obeyed!

A new, unregistered XR4i 3 door shell with 4x4 running gear.

Once it is registered I have another engine to drop in.

if its 500 sheets to sva it im gonna be on a right downer.

i hope its not going to be a super sva or somthing.

No pics of it till it is finished and registered, but here's how it came home (once I'd popped a bonnet and bumpers on to make it look more complete - LOL!)

I can't go for a brand new registration unless everything is new (you are allowed to use one reconditioned component) but I'll be happy enough with the original number from the donor car or an age-related 1991 J Reg.

I only bought the shell because it had a receipt, and DVLA have had that and were happy to issue a new VIN number - from the factory, service shells have no VIN of their own. I also have the original consignment plate that rivets on where the VIN plate would normally be.
