Default CVH sump gasket...

I just finished changing a cvh sump gasket and I forgot what a pain in the ass it is I love Fords but christ all mighty it has to be the most ridiculosly badly designed sump gasket ever.

I done one before and didnt have any hassle lol, keep hearing how bad they are but didnt think they were that bad tbh!?

Early ones are three piece, later ones just one. Depends on wether engine is still in the car aswell

they are abit of a pain!!!it the flywheel end thats a ars!best bet is to put some sealant on and stick the gasket to the block!

The genuine Ford sump gasket is shit. They seem to have gone away from Payen for manufacturing those.

Stick to Payen, you'd be amazed at the difference in the quality of the rubber between them.

My mate said the best way to do them so you know the gasket is fitted rigth is to take the gearbox out.

use old sump bolts with their heads cut off as studs to locate it - much easier then.

i find it easier if u use spray glue to hold the gasket to the sump, then leave overnight and it wont budge when u try to manouver it into position

Had a garage fit mine. Leaked after 3 months and had to have a new one fitted!!
