Default Sky HD question... HD picture in two rooms from one HD box?

Can you have it in more than one room if you only one Sky HDBox. I know you can have it on normal SD... but is it possible to have HD picture in more than one room from only one box and control it with a magic eye?

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be. In theory, you've got a HD box, you've got a HD cable, combine the 2 and you should have HD

The normal SD in multiple rooms uses the co-ax out, which won't carry a HD signal

Something like this would be needed to send the HD signal to more than one TV...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Labgear-2-Wa.../dp/B000GHTU9Y

Supports HDCP and will work for up to 20M, so can't see why it wouldn't work

I think you'd still have to run a co-ax cable from the back of the box too, if you want to use the magic-eye

This is on my to-do list too

Sorry guys... I already KNEW the answer!

I was actually just seeing what people were going to say...

AS I was told it cant be done!!!

AND IT CAN!!!!

and you don't need anything other than the Sky HD box!

NO SPLITTER REQUIRED!

I had an top Audio visual man come around yesterday and he says SKY tell everyone you cant do it... but you can.

Downstairs I use the normal HDMI output and now I use the component output to power upstairs in HD!

The original (non Shitty Samsung HD Box) outputs simulataneously through both HDMI and component! Sweeeeeeeeet

and I just use the RF outputs for the other rooms obviously but just in SD.

He had to make up a very long component lead but that was only Ł75. He only charged me Ł175 for whole job.

WELL HAPPY!

I woudl have just bought another HD box... BUT then all the stuff you record on one is not on the other and that would drive me nuts!

I live on my own so only ever need to watch one HD thing at a time. So this was perfect!

Its controlled through a Magic eye as normal

My Samsung box doesn't have a component output

That makes it a hell of a lot easier

Do you notice any difference between the picture you get with HDMI and component outputs?

Nope! both spot on.

I always though HDMI was far better. How little did I know This dude actually says he prefers Component and over the distance its running then Component would definately have the edge.

he says there is nothing in it really though.

I started watching Stardust in HD in bed last night and it looked VERY good.

Lee, thats great news!

Im in greenwich now with the missus and we only watch the same stuf.. SO

I have thompson HD box (got it a year ago) so should have dual HDMI & component yes?

so all you need is a damn long component lead and a magic eye, and we're away!?

trouble is getting a component cable to upstairs without drilling a hole in the ceiling!

The difference between SD and HD is really noticable without having a 1080P screen

If you were going to get a TV, it makes sense to buy a 1080p now anyway...more futureproof and the like

Sky doesn't output in 1080p anyway and I recken it will be a good few years before it will

from what the nerds have said in the past:

interlaced means that it changes half the lines per frame

progresive changes all the lines per frame

although someone will come along and say that there is something that goes along teh lines of the interlaced version only refreshes the pixels that actual change and the progresive ones changed all the pixels regardless of if they need changing or not

but in currys today (see my "to cut a long story short" post) they say that a 1080i screen has twice the pixels as a normal sd telly and the 1080p screens have 4 times as many

some of them just need a dappy hat to complete the look

but they still just read the sides of the boxes to tell you what you can't figure out and asked them over to help you with in the first place

the box has outputs in the back for normal connections AND hdmi connections

both work at the same time so you use one for one telly and the other for the other telly

job done
