I was an electrician and got a job month on month off working with ROVs in west africa, not the best part of the world to be in for half the year but money is good and the time at home is great.

QServ was bought over by Aker a while back.
In terms of drilling in the north sea, its tailing off and will do for the rest of the year due to the financial market.
If your starting off, aim for well intervention companies. They are flat out at the moment, as I'm trying to use them to do some decomissioning work. Technip, Well Ops, etc. Shell, BP, etc are looking to do intervention as they'd rather get the best out of their wells rather than drill new as it costs a fortune at the moment.
Transocean has cold stacked 2 rigs in Invergordon (one thanks to Oilexco) and contracts at the end of 2009 is looking very quiet. They are also stopped taking on new starts due to this as they will be looking to move bodies around instead of laying off. The rest of the world is looking the same. It will just drive them to reduce the day rate, which will make me happier!![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Lead process tech - one of the cooshyist jobs in the world!!!! Same small crew, drink beer at the end of the shift and do what you want to do! Just as long as onshore can contact you!!

we was supposed to do 4 wells of wireline on the brent bravo then they reduced it to 2, now were on the brent alpha & the job has went Ł2 million over budget so there knocking this on the head aswell soon, so less work coming in, plus we got a Ł1700 pay cut per annum last month
